(It may not surprise anyone.)
I am of the opinion that it was in many ways a tragedy that rock'n'roll came along, as big as it did. It's not that all the music is bad--I have both movement and artists I like. It's not that it's not creative. It's that in the end, not matter what little byways are explored, it always goes back to guitar, bass, drums, voice (usually male), possibly augmented by keyboards and rhythm guitar.
When you love things like accordions, and xylophones, and ukuleles it means that there's a void in rock music.
Of course, at this point, rock is ebbing and electronic and rap are the musical powerhouses in this country, now. So, look at me, railing against a dead thing on behalf of a deader thing.[size=85](I love it when the opening of Volga Boatman breaks in...)
