What is a possibility is one day building a little vacation home in the Poconos. Get a nick chunk of land and plop one of those new modern looking prefabs on the site. http://methodhomes.net/

Cheaper than going to the Catskills and even closer for me.

Morning all!

Extra smooches to Yggy...

I've been really busy at work so I haven't been able to do much more than lurk here. We're getting ready for our big fundraiser so overtime abounds. Not that I'll be paid much overtime. I'll get flex time but I'm to busy to really take much of that. Our big event (Pumpkinpalooza) is 10/20/13 so time seems to be flying by at warp speed.

and I'm out...
But I'll be lurking
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Yum! I could stand to have a healthy freezer full of game. I've got friends who go in together to buy entire cows. They have some of the best BBQs. :-) Maybe someday I'll get to do the same thing.

Yggy, I just haven't had time yet. I most likely won't have time until after the 20th. If I get a chance before that I'll let you know.

Yggy, for that grade of beef raised in those conditions, I think you're getting a great price. You could get cheaper, but it'd be lower grade stuff comparable to what you get at a supermarket. There's a place we go to at the Farmer's Market that's got a similar operation, and man you can really taste the difference.

Good Morning Dear All !
finally recovering from the three twelve hour days of HSB maximum which in some ways was more challenging than BRC..thank goodness for the training.and thank you all the considerate burners who were there sharing positive energy.

Because I always loved challenge, when I lived in shasta region we raised our own grass fed...I did the whole thing, drank to the moment of the dear steer's endgame...
It took experience like that of disappointment to recognize that I missed the taste of the "aged" beef.

I like extremely lean cuts, and grass fed ranging, which tends to be leaner.
I trim all fat.
Maybe it's a matter of taste, but all the stuff I'm told about fat and cooking, I don't do.
You do have to cook leaner meat differently, and not overcook it.
I probably cook at a lower temperature for longer.
Stopping at the right time is very important.

My town of 30,000 is basically restaurant row. Everything from Trinidad (where I'm getting my goat) to Ethiopia.

Amazing for a small town.
Walked around the block in Pittsburgh and tried to count the restaurants.
Lost count.
All variety.
I don't know if that's typical there or not.

*wanders in, makes CCCC*
ah, back from the Hof...........all is well, except a friend went up and didn't close the doors properly.......so a couple of mice seem to have gotten in. No biggies since nothing is really inside, but, dang.

And, I have to come up with a good "negative pressure" "scavenging/vacuum" cap for the stove chimney.
It's impractical to get the top of the pipe above the peak of the roof, and when the winds gust from the cliff side, the air "rolls" and creates momentary high pressure right at the chimney..........and reverses the draft, smoking the cabin! dang.
I see a venturi cap with a wind vane for direction, and a spinning wind driven turbine cap in my research.
Anyone have experience, or other ideas?

*heads to IBBOD*

I'm required to have a spark arrester .. Got one from Home Depot. Chimney is low on the wind side of the building.. I don't have any blow back into the stove. This may be all you will need..

Just noticed the note on the frig. Have renew drivers licence NOW :!:

Oh, I'm drinking....

Man, one hell of a day. I'm going through messages, and doing some tests for another project while poking around on the Behance site that a friend keeps telling me I need to post projects on.... then all the sudden I hear this oddball noise in the kitchen... like flowing water. I figure the kitten's gotten into something or knocked something over, but no - she's busy getting into trouble on my desk. WTF? I go check and find gallons of water rushing out from behind the washer. Gah!

So I'm cleaning up from the great flood and messaging my girlfriend and damn, what a mess. The maintenance guy for our building doesn't live in the building, and he hasn't yet arrived for work but he says he's on it and will come right over. I finish cleaning up and wring out the towels.

An hour goes by, still no maintenance guy. Then I hear that sound again, and a new, greater flood with twice the water comes rushing in. What a mess times two. Takes longer to clean up of course, and bigger pain in the ass. Another hour goes by and, you guessed it, it happens again - this time had to be between 5 and 10 gallons. Fortunately I'd already pulled a lot of stuff up off the floor after the first two, but still a big wet mess. Still no word from the maintenance guy, so shouting is directed at building management who does seem to genuinely care. He tells me he's going to call the maintenance man to find out his ETA, and then start calling neighbors to figure out where the gushing is coming from. Fortunately he was able to figure it out, and then the maintenance guy finally got in. By the time everything was sorted and cleaned up, it was around 2. Blargh!

So, yeah, rack 'em up.

In other news, I've got everything I need to start on a few more batches of limoncello for next year's burn. I'll get that going in the morning :D
