not totally kidding about the minerals and elements in the mud.........it contains some complex salts that I bet have many essential elements and minerals.
and I don't think acid or alkaline has much to do with electrolytes, other than the elements causing said PH.

really, there's nothing wrong with it. all solid all parts work and move, no real rust and very clean inside.
sorta cool, it has an oven in the middle there, and a hot water tank to the right. Not sure if the hot watet tank (open to the atmosphere, so not pressurized) is for heat retention, or a source while cooking? It also has a hot water coil in and out in the firebox part.
I don't know what I'd do to "restore" it, other than wipe the dust off.

Reverse body shots..... can't we just apply the dust and drink at the same time.

Wanders in, starts ECM*
the old ECM, hasn't been used in a while.........another wonderful invention here in the bar.
yeah, I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with that stove, but, it's so cool I had to take it!! Traded half a pig and that stove for a granite hearth and wall slab.

the clocks tickin.....dang, I so understand what Elorrum said the other day, (I paraphrase), " In the space of one day, we go from "plenty of time" to " I'll never get it all done".

Classic Goofy - great start to the day! Thanks, Ygmir :)

Gotta get a bunch of clear-coating done this morning, then I think we're gonna go see the giant monster/robot popcorn flick on the biggest screen possible. Maybe by the time I get back my little 10-second 'dust test' video will be done rendering....I've been playing around with an effect to make the 3D rendered stuff feel a bit more realistic. Rendering takes forever, but at least it gives the machine something to do while I'm playing with paintbrushes.

Have a great Sunday - get 'er done and have some fun!

Elliot wrote:... Gatorade is said to be quite strong, and more than once I have received praise for my 50/50 mixture.

I find that since they changed the formula for Gatorade in the mid to late 80's, it doesn't quench my thirst anymore.

I've gone over to the "industrial" version of Gatorade. Squencher.
Used in industry to minimize downtime, keep workers alert, safe and making good decisions while not exhausting them. Local company used to have to shut down the welding inside the large steel containers on summer afternoons, but now they keep cups and a cooler of Squencher on the line.
Squencher has half the sodium and 50% more potasium than Gatorade. High in a mix of sugars that give an energy boost, but without the stimulants found in energy drinks (not even caffeine).

It's not as good an electrolyte as Emergen-C and the other more potent ones, but it keeps you out of trouble to begin with for much less cost. You may want to bring something more potent for your personal use or if you get in trouble, but to have sitting available in a camp to refresh and keep people out of trouble, and at low cost, it's an excellent choice.

It's expensive in liquid form ($18 locally to yield 2.5 gallons)(and the liquid concentrate attracts all the hornets in range) but much much cheaper in powder.

Comes in bags that yield 1 gallon, 2.5 gallons or 5 gallons. Mixes with three to four circles of the wooden spoon.
I had 80x 1g bags (orange) and 32x 2.5 gallon bags (assorted) (~100 lbs.?) delivered to Reno last year for $196.00. Enough to make 160 gallons. That's $1.23 a gallon for the Squencher.
Odd. No bears to watch in the dump. Oh well, lets go across the road & pick blueberries.
.
... but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

thanks FJ.......I had a few minutes this morning, for whatever reason, feeling like I had plenty of time and money to get it "all together"............

Gotta drop the fuel tank on frankencamper today and see if I can fix the sending unit. I don't like going that far with no fuel gauge, and last year, it broke.

true E.D.
but it's 50 gallon tank, and about 6 mpg.
so far it's worked just fine, and I carry 30 gallons of extra fuel.
but, I think back to an incident some years ago, while driving a little too fast through Petaluma, trying to make a tune (in a different vehicle), missing, sliding across into the train station, and across the train tracks, down the sidewalk, back over the tracks and back on the road.......I'd not known I knocked the fuel drain out of the tank and was pouring fuel out, had I not had a gauge.........

Morning, FJ, Thanks for the reminder. Bought the last pieces for our shade structure at HD yesterday and I am ready to load the SUV and get rolling. ED has a plan for not running out of gas, YG. But knowing you, you'll get that problem fixed the right way. Time for :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

so, sitting here taking a break from the heat/work, I'm thinking about electrolytes.
We advise people, all the time to hydrate. But we don't usually include electrolytes in our conversation/advice.
so, finding the most needed elecrolytes are:
Sodium
Potassium
Magnesium
Phosphate
Chloride

and of course, alcohol.**

leaving alcohol aside for the moment, where can we find all this, and more?
and not only that, but free?

answer: Playa dust.
considering all the other trace minerals in it, along with a little radioactivity, hell, what could be better?

so, springs forth "Playa juice": the all around rehydration formula, that also mixes with your favorite spirits.

Discuss:

**snickers**

Playa dust?

I hate to tell you this, yggy, but the majority of what's in playa dust is inert:

Quartz silt. Add to that a little bit of clay and calcite, and you've got playa dust.

The calcite has your calcium. The clay has the potassium, and beyond that.....you're on your own. No cholride or sulfate...it leaches downwards too fast. Phosphate isn't there. No sodium, magnesium, or chloride to speak of.

I refer you to a previous post that I started to dispel rumors:

http://eplaya.burningman.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=33745

Since that time, I've had my dust analyzed, folded, bent, spindled and mutiliated. It's still just silt-sized and finer particles. It makes a lousy pozzolan (drying agent for concrete) and it classes out as a CL by ASTM classification.

It would make a passable additive to instant coffee to prevent caking, but that's about it...... :coffee: :coffee:

Speaking of which, where's my coffee?????
