Really nice work, Foxfur!

No photographic evidence today. Tons of other things swirling around, so not a lot of progress. I finally got art delivered on 6 of the standees I'll be making, and I did a little prep work in Illustrator. Tomorrow I'll take them over to VCarve and start getting the jobs set up for the shopbot. My bike rack jobs are already set up, I just need to flight check those (to be on the safe side) before my shopbot time tomorrow night. I spent a few hours of quality time in the studio auditioning tracks and bouncing ideas around, hopefully I'll get the chance to follow up on some of the stuff I liked and remember to record the sessions :) Pandorra had a more productive evening, she finished sewing the four flags for the camp.

That shade's looking nice!

Meanwhile, a painfully long day in the bag. Productive though - I managed to flight check that junk I needed to flight check, and finished working up the art into stuff I can use for the shopbot on the six standees that my campmate had finished her sketches on. Despite a crazy busy day, I managed to get out to my plastics place to get the sheets of acrylic I'll need for the weekend's laser cutter projects, and then over to the lumber yard for the plywood I needed for the shopbot. I managed to get two bike racks cut out, as well as two of the standees we'll have out in front of the camp.

That last one looks kind of kooky because of the knots in the wood, should end up looking incredible once somebody gets a little paint on it. In other news, Pandorra had a shipment of EL wire arrive for something she's working on, plus she got the shower curtain stuff all sorted out for the camp shower (can't use standard shower curtain rings since the pole it will hang from is too big). I think she also worked on making a raspberry syrup reduction from the juice I'd made recently, no idea what drink that'll be a part of but I'm down. Time for bed, then another long day of working on stuff tomorrow.

All in all I got 5 standees cut today, and ready to hand off to people who will paint them up (fabrication division has handed the pieces off to decoration division). One left to do, poor Nikola Tesla will need to waif for Monday night to get cut out. I was also able to get a couple more laser appointments booked, a project I'm working on is giving me vibes like it's going to need a lot more than the four hours I currently have booked. We'll see how things play out, hopefully it comes in at much less time...

No pics tonight, but I got the last of the standees cut out tonight. I also got more tags etched and cut on the laser cutter, and finished the priming on those bike decoration parts I made over the weekend. We also started taking a hard look at the things we still have to do and the time we have left, and have tabled a few projects for post-burn, and taken others in different directions to simplify or save on time. They're hard choices to make because we're excited about all the things we want to do, but I think it's better to stay ahead of that curve and not go too crazy getting everything done on time.

I bought a 100% cotton t-shirt at a thrft store for $1 and spray painted it today. It's for lazerfox or whomever teaches me how to hula hoop. ok, it's 7/31, and I still suck.

I built a trailer that's too small. I was gifted a trailer that's too big. I'm waiting on a callback for a trailer that's just right.

Thanks Trilo. I'll have to dig up some pics of it lit as well. It's also much better now that I got the front shifters rigged.

Shifters aren't for safety. You would never get moving without it in low gear. Specially with the surface conditions this year. ;)

Yeaaaahhhh... when I'll be riding around on it during setup, it won't be deco'ed with the flowers. Once the GF arrives and takes possession of it, the flowers will appear. ;P

Beat those flowers against a wall, they really don't hold up well. I have similar stuff in my house and it MOOPs if I look sideways at it.

I warned her about that, so she spent the time to take it all apart and GOOP all of it together. If the winds get strong enough to tear them off now, we'll have bigger problems.

Good for her! I did a bouquet one year, it was a PITA. As much as I like silk flowers, I won't be doing that again.

I'm making good progress with the laser cutter, though it'll take several more sessions to get through the rest of the tags I want to cut. Here's a sample of how they look (though they still need some cleanup after coming off the machine)…

Image

Here's a different shot of that translucent green tag, it does an incredible job of catching both regular and UV light…

Thanks! It's been a real pain in the ass getting the project to come together. Originally I'd planned to make them in steel using a waterjet cutting tool, but the amount of time and garnet material that would use ended up being WAY too cost prohibitive. Re-imagining the design for acrylic and cutting with the laser had its own challenges, plus some other technical troubles. I think I've got it all sorted out now, and it's just a matter of getting enough time on the equipment to be able to cut out all the pieces I'd like.

Got all the signage printed on the large format printer…totals up to 30 feet! I also had a couple more hours on the laser, and got a couple hundred more tags cut out. Meanwhile Pandora got all the standees primed up (we have campmates coming over tomorrow to paint them), and got a bunch of smaller sewing projects done.
