Good to see you, Badger! and cool pic, what's that gonna be?

Got a bunch of grinding and sanding done today, all the 'rough' deli parts (and the lofty thoughts cloud cutout) from the weekend are now most of the way there. Most of the stuff I've made in the past haven't really been all that hands-on, I'm not used to having to do all this sanding.

On the design side, Pandorra and I have been tossing around ideas for a small playa gift we could make and share. We've got a few. Like, but one really jumped out at us today and I'm really excited to try and make it happen. I also managed to finished translating the bike rack build plans and notes I have into a vcarve doc, then got it ready for the shopbot. I've got more time booked tomorrow night, and should be able to get a couple bike racks knocked out.

Are we allowed to get her drunk and teach her how to ride a bike.

Note: Not falling down drunk, just loosened up drunk.

Triken, if you get the chance check out a documentary on Route 66 hosted by scottish comedian Billy Connelly (I think it's just called "Billy Connelly's Route 66"). Fun series where he travels from Chicago to LA along route 66 in that kind of trikey chopper mobile. Ours are a little more quite a bit more modest, little worksman port-o-trikes (when folded up we can easily get the pair inside the back of our van or keep them in our loft in the city).

More shopbot fun today… making parts for the big signs out in front of the camp.

I also couldn't resist snapping a pic of one of the warning signs

I was contacted by a race track owner in Texas who wants me to build some fire poofers for him to poof at significant times during races.
Ah, so many variables in this situation and liability is the least of them.
In a hardware / controls sense, it's a no brainer. Logistically, hmmm. People want 50 foot tall flames on every shot and every shot has to be 5 seconds long... Got a tank farm?
Not what he wants but...
The technical variables of flame production, height, fuel consumption, boil off rates, etc.
If he has $5,000 for closed loop PID controlled tank heating and MAF / stoich mixing manifold...

If it turns out he just wants something like my existing one, I think that's manageable.
Then we're back to liability.
I could do the honorable thing and tell him how to build one / direct him towards resources, but, I need new struts & springs for Rambette...

You're still doing the honorable thing, he wants to hire a knowledgeable person to design and build something for him. People could DIY their own computer tech support or paint their own houses and change their own oil and all kinds of other stuff that they happily pay others to do. And of course bonus points for getting struts & springs for Rambette taken care of.

Painting continues, we got the last mural done today and I made a lot of progress on priming the deli counter and camp sign pieces. I also finally got some t-shirts ordered and a few silk screen supplies I needed, I plan on making some shirts for campmates at some point over the next coupe weeks.

Oh no, van's in the shop? Sorry to hear it. Ours needs to go in, general maintenance plus we're gonna have to replace the front windshield, it got a crack in the corner and those things tend to get worse.

I managed a somewhat productive day. Fnished priming all the deli pieces, as well as the big pieces for the big camp sign (still a bunch of small stuff to do though). Then I got the last of our mural sections rolled up and disassembled the framework I'd used to make way for the next thing. Hit the local building supply and grabbed the lumber I'll need for the base of the big camp sign,as well as all the conduit I'll need for the shade above the deli counter. I cut that down to size, then built a part of the structure in the loft in the space whee we'd been working on murals so Pandorra can cut and sew the fabric for the awning. Pani's also been working at a fever pitch on some clothing design ideas. She made herself a fun bee-themed costume for last week's precompression shindig, but still has a few more plans for wearables for this year. Can't wait to see what she comes up with....
