Anybody on Friendster?

Postby Niacin » Thu Nov 13, 2003 1:02 pm

I haven't decided yet whether it's social pap or social evolution...but it is telling me that there isn't anybody in my personal network with Burning Man as an interest.

<sniff> Anybody want to be my friend? </sniff>

my friend asked me to sign up a while ago. i don't get it. i guess that's why i don't have any friends on it, and haven't paid attention to it. humm.... is there a draw?

Many people have switched from Friendster to Tribe.net, as Tribe offers
much more useful functionality for networking, job searching, etc.
Friendsters primary focus seems to be on dating, which i think has turned
many people off of it.

see if you can get a connection to me, my friendster name is Xarah ( that is also a nickname used by my fraternity and my family) I have a rule about only adding people I have met in real life, so to you add me you have to make arangements to meet me next year at burning man. I use my dog as my "fakester" where I add people that I only know on line. Dave.The.Pug(at)bonbon.net, that will connect you to about a zillion burning man people.
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.

Tribe.net

If you want to check out tribe.net, you'll find lots of burners (the Burning Man tribe (community, affinity group, whatever) has 1,023 members), including a few people who are active here.

and it is NOT just for dating! I use it to network! Just because everybody on there but me has an open marriage..geeze! Ok, so I sort of went out on a "date" with my friend tymm... but that was more of an escort type thing (my husband didnt go to burning man, and I was headed out with one of my best friends and his girlfriend, so we turned it into sort of a "double date"), and we knew each other way before friendster!

OK! so now should I join Tribe Too? Man, I was one of the original friendster people, ( My number is like one thousand something) before stupid NPR and server overload, my friends Brendon, Tymm, and Solar all have been bugging me to switch.

This is the first I've heard about it, but it sounds interesting. Do you have any more details you can PM me?

I've officially given up on Friendster...I'm off to tribe.net. Seems to have a better feature set without the 15 minutes of frustration.

On Friendster say hi to Burning.

Tribe sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.[/b]

Yep 100% addict. I just love me some friendster, but have no BM friends. They're all live in the flesh Californians. No computers. I want you all to find me, Christian Breeden and add me as a friend if your personal Ideology permits!
