Year round storage - Reno

Postby aliebling » Tue May 13, 2014 9:59 am

We're an old (15 years), small (20~ people) family+ camp which has traditionally done all our off-playa storage in LA/SF (where many of our family come from). We have a 20' container and a 20' art car which both get transported to the playa every year. Rather than dealing with the cost and hassle of shipping these so far, we're looking for storage options closer to the playa.

I think we're settled on Reno: not as close to the playa, but easier to have camp members gather for a week for playa prep and possible to get parts, etc.. for the art car. We'd consider Gerlach too, if there is a great option.

What we need:

1. Inside storage for the art car + a few large items. Roughly 20'X10' or a bit larger

2. Inside/outside storage for the container (20'x8'). We'd consider outside, but we've had issues in the past with condensation in the container caused by weather variation. Alternately, good suggestions on how to deal with that are very welcome!

So where is everyone storing in Reno or the surrounding area? Other suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks, we've already sourced a number of them at different price points and locations. I was more hoping for a solid recommendation for a burner-friendly and trustworthy location. Considering everything will be sitting there for ~8 months every year without anyone checking on it regularly, it would be nice to know that other have had a good experience with them.

You may want to consider looking at local review sites (Yelp, etc).

The biggest issue with the ones I've found so far is the loading of a 20' container. We really need a place with a forklift available (either one our licensed driver can use or one that can be rented with driver for a reasonable charge).
