If your doctor gave you a green light to go, my utterly non-professional advice is to listen to your body. That's been the #1 lesson I've learned from growing older. I wouldn't recommend drinking or otherwise imbibing, wear a helmet, especially if riding a bike, and take it easy. I don't know how old you are, but us older burners know a great burn can be had while not doing extreme forms of craziness, and i had a great time last year hanging in camp and participating in our camp activities. Going up with a trailer is a plus, because you've got a cool place to rest if you need to. And like anyone else with a medical condition, make sure your campmates know all about it. Last year our camp matriarch was on the playa 5 days after ending chemo. She couldn't go out much, and we all made sure to remind her to drink water & electrolytes, get enough to eat, and kept her cool. That made ME feel great to be able to be of service, and she got to enjoy her burn.
I'm not a slut, I'm good time floozy!

Didn't feel that risky to me, at least physically. Mentally, yes, I would guess EMTs are just as likely as doctors to become alcoholics or pill abusers after all the shit they see (figurative shit, even though you do see more literal shit than you wish).

My husband was an EMT. I didn't know him long enough to figure out all the emotional effects, but they were there. On the other hand, he knew exactly how many babies he helped deliver.

Well, you're the better man, and that's what counts.

You are pretty much not in any more danger there than you are at home, depending on what your activities are. Gravity is about the same in either place and I have rarely seen anything large enough to cause a concussion flying through a dust storm that can't be avoided by taking shelter.

Just don't play the "rednecks last words" game - "here, hold my beer and watch this".

Actually, that real fear of death might provide the necessary edge to win.

No, I am happy that I don't have to do this job any more. I'll leave it to those with nerves like steel.

Wow, thanks so much all for your great feedback, I really appreciate it. It's still looking up in the air and I haven't made a decision yet. On further thought, I'm realizing that with this concussion, I am currently feeling very hyper sensitive to over stimulation, noise, heat, bright light, stress, and lack of sleep - all things I do remember being part of the Burning Man experience. Being exposed to these things makes my symptoms get worse. Hmmmm.... I'm still holding out hope that I'll improve enough in the next short while to be able to go, though.

If you have any doubt, stay home and get better.

There is healing that takes place, and it can be slow.

If you think you are not recovering, get scanned.
It's possible to keep bleeding or start again.
I know.

Get all the sleep you need.

There is a diabetes drug being used to treat this injury too.

Oh and related, we are selling my ticket! Face value of $390, and we are located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We're not charging for any of the fees or shipping we paid, we just really hope someone can use the ticket who otherwise wouldn't have made it home this year. Contact me if interested, and see y'all next year. :)
