Paper Print shop needed...

Postby Borris » Tue Jul 26, 2011 4:11 pm

I've tried Emailing several print shops in Reno, and the one recommended on the resources section of the BM site. no reply.
what I need is the following:

are you familiar with daily calendars? the ones that have 365 pages and each day you tear a day down?

I need something like this made, but in ANSI C or ANSI D size.
full colour print, each page with a perforation 3" from the top and 3 holes 1/2" wide on the left side middle and right side of the top perforated area (for hanging off a billboard)
on the cheapest paper you have.
the printing can be made in 150 dpi, doesn't have to be 300 dpi.
I'll provide a pdf file for the printing.
Shipping to Sparks, NV.

I need a quote for 100 pages like this, 500 pages and 1000 pages.

Can Anyone help me get a quote on something like this?

thanks, B.
Shit, where was i for the last week... ehm...

Kinkos/FedEx....Its a little short notice for a custom job, from a private party. Or do it yourself at Kinkos. The quality of prints are much better than 5 years ago...and you can print on slick. The only print job I've ever considered contracting, was on vinyl.

Kinkos don't do those sizes, only smaller. and the paper they use is too high quality, I'm aiming at something like newspaper paper.
back where I'm from (Israel) such a job can be ordered, processed and delivered in 3 days (and if I don't do perforations then even faster).

Well shit...If I were still a press operator, id have done it for free. Used to print the New York Times west coast edition. Is it strictly black ink? Contact the Black Rock Gazette or Piss Clear.....or whatever the dailies are now, and ask where they get theirs printed. Newspaper printers are SOL....with the internet, and you may find a good price. Fuck, Ill call my old employer and try and get a quote.

That's 4 plates for 1 full color page....meaning registration....waste. For 1000 pages, that's not even worth walking the press. Xerox is your best bet.....they Can do larger sizes.

how realistic is it at those sizes to keep it at a price of below 0.10$ per page? ANSI D size and full colour.

Have you tried an online printer such as www.printplace.com?

That I don't know....id check around. The thing about newsprint, is its web fed. Cheaper per copy, but for small jobs....set up time, pre press and waste...really makes it not worth it. Kinkos does all kinds of paper...even papyrus....they may be able to print on news stock

it doesn't have to be newspaper paper. I'd just want to work with the cheapest paper available, I'm not a specialist in printing. maybe #20 paper for the small job I need will be cheaper to set up and do.

What size are your calendars? Have you thought of changing, some calendars from Israel? Just a thought. Would put a personal and cultural touch on your gifts.

That would be a lot of work...but...

Let me get back to you

How about one month per page? It would suck, to see Tuesday....Wednesday and Thursday floating around the playa

Tom, they aren't really calendars, just a bundle of posters that are made to be torn off one at a time. the calendar is just a way to explain the idea.
