Oh yeh.

Y'all want to shave your bits back to puberty- have at. I just ain't sleeping with you.

Y'all want to assume that its a natural thing and that everyone does it- hell no. Most of my boys are in their 20's & 30's, and they have the hair they were given in the genetic lottery.

[rant]
I put shaving balls and bits in the same category as botoxing & cheek implants and starvation diets. A desperate need to look young and like the advertisers want you to because people can't deal with their own bodies. Women never shaved their pits until advertisers told them it was nasty, men started in the 90's when the metrosexual thing took hold. Pluck, prune, trim, alter, starve, botox... do whatever it takes to look like an airbrushed magazine, but, for gods sake, whatever you do- BUY SHIT to do it!
*bleh*
Give me a natural human any day.
[/rant]

THANK you Eric!!! (Yes I repeat myself.)

If I see one more gay porn magazine or DVD cover or one more Hollywood leading man sporting that freakishly hairless she-man look I think I'm going to hurl.

I'm still not convinced Leonardo DiCaprio is not a lesbian. (Although now that he's aging he actually looked sort of okay in "Inception.")

And yes, I have no problem with the fact that I outgrew being sexually attracted to thirteen year-olds when I was, well, you know, thirteen.

[rant]
And why, oh why, when it comes to male beauty, do so many gay men emulate the poor aesthetic decisions made by straight women???? Burner females aside, American women overall have the CRAPPIEST taste in men! THE CRAPPIEST! The leading men in motion pictures, advertising and television (especially soap operas) are pretty uniformly shorn, shaven shells of quasi virility. Bleah. Sometimes it seems to me that the secret ideal sex partner for most "heterosexual" American women is teenage girl with a semen-filled turkey baster instead of a vagina.

Tom Cruise, Prince William, Orlando Bloom (DEFINITELY a lesbian), Jude Law, Viggo Mortenson, Johnny Depp (the only thing NOT have going for him is sex appeal), Matthew MaConaughey, Ashton Kucher (looks like a hermaphrodite dipped in a tank of pubic hair [nod to Boy George]), Keanu Reeves, Pierce Brosnan, Hugh Grant (toothy sheepish grins are NOT masculine), Jake Gyllenhall, Ben Affleck (face looks like a fluffy white pillow with a little pink line for a mouth), Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, Josh Hartnett, Jensen Ackles (tragically unconvincing F to M), Marc Consuelos, Jack Wagner, -- ALL famous because of the masculine traits which are absent, not present!!! Girly men! Girly men! Girly men! The lot of them! Bleah! Bleah! Bleah! [/rant]

Ahhhhh. That's better. I feel much better now.

(Climbs backs into orgone chamber and slams door.)
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Keep it natural! Trimming is fine, if desired. Sandpaper is not fine under any circumstance (or gender).

I prefer my women to look like they're legal, as well. (although I'll admit to relaxing that rule at times!)

I'd say it's definitely a generational thing. I'm noticing a definite difference in responses in this thread corresponding to the age of the poster. Personally, I have never in my life even heard of a girl under 30 that doesn't shave or at least tightly trim and landing strip it.. and even that I can only think of like one or two instances of. It's just what the norm is for us youngins'.. and once you get used to it, you sure as hell can't go back. I'll vouch..

Edit: This does not include the obvious crystal hugging demographic or similar.

In Florida, probably true. In SF? There's a huge chunk of the young male population letting their bodies be natural, both gay & straight. Chest hair, pubic hair, facial hair..... there's a noticeable trend away from the plucked & plasticized look of the last few decades. I notice it in New York as well. I notice it more in the gay boys, but with a good amount of the Mission-hipster straight boys tossed in.

Is everyone going natural? No. But the assumption that only old(er) people don't shave and are somehow throwbacks to an earlier era is bull....

Like I said before- shave your bodies & have at if you feel the need to, but don't assume it's the only way to look, and don't assume that everyone thinks it's the sexier way to look. I know plenty of people, male & female, who think its nasty, but I also know people who shave all the hair from their bodies below the neck. None of them assume that their way is the only way, or the better way. It's just their way.

Good point, and point taken. A lot of it probably has to do with geographic location as well. I split my time up between 3 different tropical locations (FL, HI and CRC), and the trends there are very different than the west coast and particularly the SF/Pac NW area.

I'm a 35 yr old, never shaved gal. And I prefer my partners (whether female or male) to likewise have a bit of something to grab onto, and run my fingers through.

Luckily for me, my husband and the other people I sometimes have fun with all seem to like things the way they are.

Shaving sucks. Wax. Seriously. I shaved ONCE and will NEVER do it again. Stubble poking into your tender bits is nearly impossible for me to deal with. I would rather deal with the (increasingly diminishing) pain of waxing than the horrible itching of stubble.

Ever been in a meeting with the CEO and the place is a little warm, and you are sweating, and stubble between your legs are making you want to dig more than anything into your crotch?

It is torture, don't do it.

I just think it kinda funny how different we are when it comes to the subject of hair. I see it as a way which we differentiate ourselves in a unique and individual expression of non-conformity.

Personally, I shave my head yet have a full beard. I shave my junk but have a hairy everything else including my back.

Women in general are smooth all over except for their head. Maybe it is just the company we keep? Since we all have a propensity for toys, rope and hardware it would stand to reason that we are just a wee bit kinky it would go with the territory.

When you shave anywhere on a regular basis, the skin becomes accustomed and smooths out,,,, especially when you practice shaving WITH the grain. If I shaved my face, which has not been bare for 20 years or more, I would make the same complaints about bumps and chaffing, etc.

For those who like/want to shave down there I have a recommendation.

I prefer to shave my chest, underarms, and crotch bare. Much like growing a beard if it gets too hairy in any of those places it starts to itch and becomes very uncomfortable for me. It's my own personal preference and I respect anyone who chooses otherwise for themselves.

Philips makes an electric razor called the norelco bodygroom. I've tried several methods for shaving down there and this has given my the best results by far. You don't have to use shaving cream and hardly any risk of cuts. It gets it as bare as you like it without any irritation or razor burn like the others I tried did. Simply trim it down to whatever you like (dry or wet) then put on some aftershave lotion and you're all set.

I'm def doing it the night before and am considering bringing it out with me. Only worry is it going off while in my luggage lol.

Anyway just thought I'd throw that out there.

I honestly believe that the shaved vs un-shaved thing is, a generational difference, fetish (on both sides), hygiene, and psychological issue.

Generational: as stated many of the older crowd are leaning to "natural hair" where the younger are leaning to "hard wood floors"

Fetish: Both have learned a taste for the aesthetic they appreciate and thus are biased against the reverse.

Hygiene: Hair lovers would believe that nick's and cuts are virally dangerous (pathogens) and hair haters would believe that hair breeds its own issues with sweat, parasites etc...

Psychological: There is a true issue of people whom do not know the difference between old enough and too young. This may be true for some people who enjoy shaved genitals, however this is not an overarching fact. I would suggest that most people whom enjoy shaved genitals have similar feelings to clean shaven chin or chest on men (This statement is not true by itself). I mean to say that the mental connection not so much "I want their genitals to look like a child's" as it is "I want to see more skin and not deal with pubic hair".

Please relax a bit folks and step off the soap boxes. For most people this is an aesthetic issue, not a sign of a dangerous mental issue with children. Both (base) opinions are just as valid as any other opinion.

Gwydeon, I'm going to have to insist you cease that sort of level-headed rational behavior immediately. It has no place on the eplaya.

Shavers are sick dammit! Sick sick sick! They need help, all of them!*

*(except for those friends of mine who shave for personal preference, and the people who like the aesthetic, and the people who don't like body hair, and people who don't know how to suck a dick without getting hair in their teeth {just sayin'} and... and....oh, fukkit. )
