Fedex drop point on/near playa?

Postby Dork » Sun Jul 06, 2008 4:05 pm

I'll be on the playa for 3+ weeks this year and it's possible that something could happen with my house sale requiring me to sign and return papers. Is there any way to do this? Some address in Gerlach or something that will accept and hold packages?

If you are part of an "official" Burning Man activity; and it seems likely you are (since you will be there 3 weeks); check with the BMORG and see if it could be sent to the BM Office in Gerlach.

Or the BM ranch, but that is farther from the playa?

Also, there are people who live in Empire and Gerlach that go to Burning Man, you might be able to have them accept it at their house?

Or check at Bruno's, they might accept a FedEx for you?

I'm working on a funded art project so I may have some BMORG support but not as part of any official department.

I had some items sent to me last year by USPS next day mail. It arrived under my name in general delivery at the Gerlach Post Office. It worked perfectly.

I think anything with delivery confirmation should work, so that will be perfect. Thanks!

NOTE: FedEx / UPS will NOT deliver to a PO Box or Post Office. You would have to have the papers mailed using the U.S. Postal Service to get it sent to the Gerlach Post Office.

BTW, Black Rock City DOES have an official post office for the duration. Wonder if you could get mail there? (I've sent postcards in the past.)

Wow. If you had mortgage papers delivered to you out on the playa by some dude in a pineapple costume or maybe some naked girl on a Segueway, you would be, like, the most burniest person EVER.

Not that's what you were going for... but I'm just saying...

Maybe you could have them notorized by Killbuck...?
Irony. You're soaking in it.

I'd say it's perfectly burny to sell your house and everything in it, go to a 10 day meditation retreat, then BM for 3 weeks, then move to New Zealand with only 2 suitcases. Selling the house instead of renting it would enable me to take a year to backpack around the world before moving.

I won't be high, destitute, DJing, or painted orange for much if any of that time so I'm not at 100%, but I think I'm at least a LITTLE burny.

Hell of a lot burnier than living in your parent's basement, or "couch surfing."

FedEx should just fly overhead and push the stuff out the cargo door
with a parachute.

If your playa address is on it I bet whoever retrieves it will
be so amazed that they will deliver it.

Of course this probably violates multiple federal bureaucratic
rules !!
