If you want to compare the past timeline for BLM permitting, discussions were in December and the actual permit wasn't even issued until March. So.. we could be waiting a little while for this..

it sorta sounds like some kind of 90 wait period...Dec to March...perhaps it's approved in Dec but the actual permit isn't released for 90 days?
of course I know NOTHING about these things...Either way your right about perspective!

Well as long as all these unfounded rumors are flying around I may as well throw mine into the mix.

I think there might be a 30-day wait on the EA, but nothing like 90 on an action this small. I think it's more like a "we agree to let you have the event here in principle, but we have to work out some of the details" type deal. However, this is my impression of the status, not something I've heard from BLM or the llc.

Any chance the BRC load can present as multiple point loads that may fracture the packed surface, leading to a surface shuffling indent displacement?

Isotopia wrote:The 'bearing capacity' you speak of has NOTHING at all to do with the limited numbers set forth in the BLM permit.

Bearing capacity is a geophysical term and related to a the ability of the ground to support a specific amount of weight. Bearing capacity is a moot point when you consider that there are multiple points on the Lahontan lake bed where the sediment depth is in excess of 7000 meters.

If you meant 'carrying capacity' that too is a moot point. Carrying capacity is a bio/ecological term that that defines the ability of ecological zone to sustain a certain number of members of a given species - if memory serves me.

In either case it isn't part of the calculus in issuing the permit.

I knew that would draw you out. Sucker!

Can we see your proof of same?

More endless speculation & ways to only let people who've been continue to go; which would cut out some amazing new energy that keeps the event from turning into a bunch of cranky old piss-pants shouting "get off my lawn" to anyone without a resume. Talk about Elitist.

You guys are all so serious....Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I was being sarcastic. I don't think Burning Man should EVER exclude anyone for any reason...ever. It's pure magic to visit with Virgin's! I luf them.

I'm sure we all have concerns about the effects of the event getting bigger, on the playa...but it would be dealt with, if the time comes. That's BLM's job.

Let's just all have fun.
Everything's going to be ok. Maybe. Pass it on.

What do you mean we can't drive on the playa anymore??!!

Based on today's JRS, looks like 53,000 tickets are going to be sold.

In a word: NOPE
