I like it, TT120, and may try something similar.
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

My bike porn is not very impressive, but I'm posting it to bump this thread. I built this bike out of spare parts, and it's been to the playa four times now. It has everything I think a basic playa bike should have:

Single Speed
Low-ish Gearing (for easier pedaling and powering thru dunes)
Reliable Brakes (rear coaster/front cantilever)
Riser Bars
Comfy Seat
Basket
Fat Tires

Found this beauty on Craigslist from a retired bike enthusiast whose hobby is to rebuild older bikers into original or better than original condition.

Mine is mostly a practical work horse for hauling ice and marking routes and waypoints with GPS but with parrot horn, cup holder lights and compass.

After work I plan on installing my cigar holder to enable toting a cigar in safety to allow impromptu light ups at a moment's notice!

T H E V O L T C Y C L E !

I have just completed the Frankensteining of a Wally world Mongoose Dolomite, a trike kit and extra fatty rims off of ebay, and a $20 bike co-op frame ( as the trike kit wouldn't fit the Fatty frame).

After everal dozen trips to various bike shops and hardware stores, and a few you-tube videos on how to lace a wheel... She is playa ready!

The rims are lined with flashing LEDs and the lightning bolt atop the pole is a nozzle for a yet to be constructed mini propane poofer.

BOOM!

I'm a big fan of polyurethane-based adhesives - much tougher thsn silicones. I used clear Shoe Goo to attach EL wire to my aluminum bike frame, and black Shoe Goo for retreading the tires (and medical grade PU adhesives in the default world). If you need a lot (which you might for the upholstery) a big cartridge of construction adhesive would be more economical. Check out the selection at Home Despot.
