San Francisco RV's not available anymore

Postby engineer2012 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 4:49 am

Hi all,
just heard from my travelagency that there are no RV's for rent available anymore in SF.

I find it hard to believe. Any suggestions for a BM friendly RV rent company, which might have one left for rent? (Or is it true?)

SF or Reno, that are my two options, due to I am flying from Amsterdam.

Damn, I think I have to make commitments this week: flight and RV, minifan or small moving truck. (Event tickets I have!!)

greetings

It's not totally out of the realm of possibility - reservations do start to fill up annually around this time.

Try also Oakland, maybe San Jose yet?

Some friends from New York have made a habit of flying into Las Vegas and renting their RV from there. I'm not sure if the rates (for airfare and rental) were better, or if they just enjoy the pit stop in Vegas, but it seems to work out well for them.

Sacramento might have some. You could take Amtrak, the "Capital Corridor". You'd probably have to take a cab to the rv place and then go shopping in Sacramento or Reno. Jump on it, they aren't going to last (I understand).

Yeah, thanks for the info. Las Vegas has some available. Plane ticket even cheaper, however a few miles more to drive.
What does the fuel price do in the US?
Per gallon, I suppose?
We in the Netherlands pay €1.70 per liter. 1 gallon (US) is 3.785 liters. So gallon price here shall be
3.785 x 1.7 = 6.43 Euros. That would be 8.17 US dollar per gallon here in the Netherlands. ( 1 Euro is today 1.27 US dollar).

What is the current fuel price in the US, per gallon and how do you name the type of fuel needed for an RV? Just Gas or gasoline?? We here have "Euro95, unleaded" and Diesel fuel.

As the way it looks right now that will prolly be more like $5 a gallon by summer.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have conformation for a RV!!!!!!! From Las Vegas.

So:
Event tickets, check
RV rental, check
Plane tickets, check,
Hotel resevations, check
Motor home site reservation (three nights, before BM2012), check
goggles, check
Buffs, check
el-wire, check
coffee cup (on that can be closed off), check

outfit and packing list, that's next. But hey, that's the easy part, however should be well thought over.

I'm so happy.

Get ready for a long drive in the middle of nowhere! Don't let the gas tank run too low! Take lots of pictures and post them for us to see!

You can stock up on essentials in Fallon or Fernley.

Thanks. I already have a moterhome site resevation north east of Fallon. Only a few miles from a super wallmart.
I am actually looking forward to the drive through nowhere. And the gas tank is 55 gallon. How many miles on one tank?
300? 400? W'll see. I will make a plan, town to town, miles etc. I will prepare. Less then 7 months to go.

Most RV's get 8 mpg or less, but it is a really good idea to not let your tank get below half full as there are places where filling stations are few and far between.
