One big happy family...time to cut off some barbie heads :D

Well, so BDV is really international place and I was thinking what if we bring the flags of our countries (and USA states?) to show to the Black Rock City who is ruling the world?

I think it would be great and actually quite impressive... as far as I can see - Lithuania, Belgium, UK, Czech, Australia, Canada, maybe Romania, do we have Germans, French?, is someone from Sweden coming?

Lets see what you think and what we can collect :)

Interesting idea, but really don't all those flags (along with all the plots of land separated by imaginary lines called borders) belong in the default world.

I've seen it in a few camps, but that nationalism just seems out of place on the playa.

Now a flag for the republic of Barbiebaria or something might be interesting.

When i see the Australian Flag I cringe... here it is a symbol of nationalistic crap and wankers!
No Australian flags at BDC from me

Now. Was it 2009 that had the man on a scaffolding with flags from every country hanging on the side? One of my favorite "small moments" is passing the man base after the billion bunny march and seeing that someone had hung a "Bunny Nation" flag on that scaffold.

From the context I am likely to agree, but since the only thing I know how to say in Australian is Beer I'm not 100% sure.
We used to have tv commercials here that taught Aussie - "Fosters, that's Australian for beer mate."
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Personally I was thinking Dingo Piss, but essentially in agreement.

But that's an age old strategy - tell people over and over again how good something is and a certain percentage of them will believe it regardless of the evidence from their taste buds.

I saw a commercial earlier trying to convince me how good some potato chip tastes - and quite frankly since they removed the transfats that brand now tastes like salty cardboard.

Salty cardboard is better than low-sodium cardboard, anyway.

And Fosters is better than Budweiser. And it comes in a bigger can.

Instead of flags of our nations or states, let's bring beers. 8) Oh wait we're a wine bistro, shit I don't think there's any wine made in Washington, DC. :? Plenty of beer, though!

I did say DC. Which does not include Maryland and especially not Virginia. These suburbanite poseurs who self-identify as DC peeps should all be lined up on the Mall and shot.

Trying to keep track of how many countries are represented in Barbie Death Village can be a daunting task, but here's the list I have for 2012: USA, Canada, India, China, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, England, Wales, Germany, Australia, and Belgium. Conspicuously missing from this list is Brazil (Jack and Brazildo sadly won't be with us as their travels have taken them afar); as well as France and Sweden (kicked out for being useless). Any that I'm missing?

I sent banners to my camp mates to decorate in any way they want. We will fly them in front of the dye shop. Oh! I need to get one off to our two newest additions!

True. I never even saw it in Melbourne. Mostly Victoria Bitter and Carlton Draft.

Yea, but we do plan on using your hotel block and drinking your wine. We are not French either, although we like to drink their wine too.

Oh man! Juanita had us drink Fosters on Bogan day. It was the most disgusting beer I think I have ever had. Absolutely disgusting. I would agree that it tastes like cat piss, although I've never drank actual cat piss.

Just a little update. Felony and I just spent some camp dues on glowstix. We bought 100 pink and 250 different colors. No need to be darktards on the playa. We thought 350, plus what was left over from last year, should get us through the week.

hey dock have you check with the LED glow stick company safegear or what not to see if maybe for next year we could get those in bulk so we can go a little greener? Just an idea to throw out there.

Greener... ha, ha...

there's nothing about glowsticks that it is "green" except maybe the green ones that are actually the colour green.

They are a delightful, albeit wasteful, stick of joy that one might have qualms about using, but if it's wreck the planet or get run down because you are darkwad I know what I'm going for.....

and anyway, fuck the planet, i just stubbed my toe and clearly that is the planets fault.

tg is saying you should get led "glowsticks". Or is that leds in glowstick form? As you can see elsewhere on the board, I don't really see that as anything but a single use (for the week rather than the night) item. The biggest problem with chemical glowsticks is that they end up on the playa floor. I like bbadger's idea of putting them in a jar...

I'm looking for battery powered light sticks like these
http://princetontec.com/?q=eco-flare
- But cheaper; if I find some I'll grab you a couple Mel.

I've got strobe ones but I'm thinking they'll get annoying VERY quickly.

lol no im saying getting the LED sticks would be greener then the crack glow sticks. Sense those end up in the landfill and on the ground. I sent out an email to the company and this is what I got bar from Life gear-

For the Glow Sticks we have Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, and Sky I can sell them to you for 1.10 per unit ( the ones with the flashlight and whistle)
The Eco Stick I have in Purple, Red, Blue and the price for those would be 0.50 per unit.

I'm going to e guilty of a little cross-posting. In an effort to solicit art for the Home for Wayward Art, I have a raffle... art for entry to win a new in the box FoodSaver brand vacuum sealer. Must be in CONUS.

I suppose I should have a post in the newsletter about my project, or is here good enough?

Hiya Barbierarians! (is that the correct spelling?) Well anyhow, I've been enslaved in the 3-D default world and I will be tied up for months and months, only to be let out in time for the big burn of 2012. My captors do allow me to have some fun, so I scury around doing what I can for prep prep prep...see you in the dust soon, soon...:)
