Known Ticket Scams

From this week's Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter...

Jack Rabbit Speaks wrote:This week we got a few verifiable reports of Burning Man ticket scams and counterfeits happening from nefarious ne'er-do-wells, and we want everybody to be aware of them. If you're looking to buy tickets from a third party, please read this, and pass it on to friends who are doing the same

A couple other things to point out:
  • Participant Services will soon be heading off to the playa, and won't be able to verify tickets or process will-call ticket transfer requests. When that happens, any email sent to partiserv(at)burningman(dot)com will get an out-of-office autoresponse message that will point out this page.
  • DO NOT POST another person's personal data on a public board (this includes ePlaya). People in the US are innocent until proven guilty, and while you may have good intentions it could get you into some sticky situations with regards to privacy laws, harassment, and so on. You're good people, we don't want you getting into that kind of trouble.
