Not yet. I'm going to hit Tandy or someplace in the next few weeks, maybe grab some rabbit pelts or something. I'm going to barbarianize a set of boots with them :).

[quote="Ugly Dougly"]I'm distraught. CfM said that her costume couldn't be felt by me. Everyone else will get to feel it, but I guess I'm off-limits.

felt.

if anyone is ballsy enough --or stupid-- to take on a wooden, splinter-filled obstacle course sans clothing . . . well, I'm reminded of a quote my sensei's sensei used to say: "Pain is an excellent teacher".

Some people should be told it must be done naked. No, some people MUST be told it is a naked course. Anyone reeking of patchouli, not carrying water or their towel, and wearing a Bob Marley t-shirt.

Hey, CfM, if you're planning to pitch you tent with the rest of us Barbs, drop me a PM please. Heck, do it anyway, just for the fun of it. :)

Wolfe, there's a Tandy in San Mateo:

Cool; I'll take two of her to go.

You can keep the kitties; I don't have a litterbox big enough to accomodate them. :)

Dougly,

Just purchased the soundtrack to "Mongol". If you're looking for more barbarian-themed music, I recommend this soundtrack. It's *good*.

We are in need of a generator and a few floodlights. Without this, we cannot keep the Ostacle Course open at night.
Do we have any fans that can help us with this?

Ha ha ha...(reminds me of my dad's infamously bad "hoch Deutsch.")

Littleflower, just slit up the sides, down the front, leave a bit to the imagination and revel in a semblance of historical accuracy.

Last night I had ribs. "Hmmm..." I thought, eyeing my empty plate. "Bones." So I wrapped them up in a napkin and took them home, to add to my fur ensemble somehow (I think using an awl for holes might crack 'em...could carve runes in 'em, to give away...possibilities are endless).

Just keep an eye out all the time, everywhere...your outfit(s) will come together.

It's all good. :P

Is there still a chicken-bone sign in the making? How's K.f.C. doing? ;)
I'll look into a backup.

chicken-bone sign is still in the planning stages! actually, i plan to roast a couple chickens and freeze the meat, for playa fare... make stock out of the bones, some of which may end up in a pot of pre-cooked playa chili ... THEN bleach the bones and use them on a sign. home depot had some wood scraps, but i am still thinking of trying to find something that looks a little more beat up.

also ... i looked for burlap at home depot and couldn't find it. in the garden section? that place is so damn big .... or do you have enough for several structures, to make them look a little more barbarianish?

damn, time is flying fast ... :D

CFM, a hot nail will burn a clean hole thru bone like a heated paperclip thru a fingernail to relieve a bloodblister.

When I was a scout we used round ham bones as neckerchief rings. We burned in designs with woodburning wands. But they don't let kids do that now, someone will get hurt and sue.

Course you could use a drill. Makes it smell like a dentists office.

All I ask is that the sign is *big*-- like four feet by four feet, minimum :-).

But then I'd have to buy a drill.

Or date a dentist.

...both things I could use, actually.

Another idea for a sign:

Have "Barbarian Camp" in Conan-movie font, and have a sword going through "Camp" like the word 'Conan' in the "Conan The Barbarian" movie title :).

I wonder how much that would cost to do?
