Gas powered scooters

Postby Finnegan » Sun Mar 08, 2009 2:02 am

Well, in that case they should give them away at the gate with the little programs. And 10 gallons of gas. And a spank.

Probably better then a "hippie blower" attachment. Your liable to have tie-dyed patchouli mooped all over the playa :D

handicapped?

Postby ThePaperLeaf » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:04 am

My tootsies can only hold up to a couple hours of walking, even with special shoe inserts/supports. I do not consider myself handicapped, but then, I normally don't go somewhere like BR where there is much walking 24/7. I thought I might apply for a handicapped permit for a scooter with one of those bicycle seats on a stick.

Would that work?

Those electrics take up to six hours to charge.

This year I have an old riding lawn mower with the mower deck removed and a good muffler..

But your gimp permitt "must" come from your "doctor". Don't try to use your dead uncles permitt. The DMV is onto that kind of crap..

Also you "must" preresgister your gimp ride with Burning Man DMV. Then take it in for a inspection and a Black Rock City sticker..

If you can't follow these simple rules...The Rangers will be happy to help you remove your ride to the Black Rock city limits. And you ass with it, if you flip them any shit.

My back and feet give out after a little while; I can't even navigate an entire grocery store without pain. No gimp sticker, we bring a four wheeled bike.

Those don't require permits.

I'm currently building a 50cc powered, pedal-assisted trike that's styled like a 1920's "gray" Harley Davidson. (really, as heavy as it is, it's more pedal powered and motor-assisted) It's pretty wild looking. I'd love to bring it but I'm not sure if it needs to be registered. If so, does it cost money to register the vehicle through the DMV? If it's too much trouble, I'll just leave it at home. Sorry, OP, for capitalizing on your thread.

Those wretched miserable little gas scooters are legal.
It is also legal for any one who is annoyed by one to set the fucking thing on fire. {Only in prescribed burning areas of course}

See, I like this outside-the-box thinking. Yes, they are technically "legal". Yes, the rest of us consider you a douche for riding one.

Just right. How goes for you?

Just about 4 months til I get to serve you a nice cold Pirate Space Juice, or something. Best start training for that one now.

Some of the smaller motors on bicycles are quiter than the skooters. You can't go wrong with a small pulsejet on your bike either. Helps to teach all those ppl that bitch about noise what burningman is really about. Nothing like shootin fire out the back at night and putting a flame thrower in the front.

If you poke around you can upgrade a regular bike for less than 200 and get decent speed and fuel economy.

So I'm trying to figure this out:

Tuba horn on Mutant Bus blowing at 5am. OK

5000w of thumping music 24-7. OK

Megaphones. OK

3hp scooters. Should be banned.

It's not that difficult to figure out. It's NOT the noise most people object to; it's the reckless manner they are operated and the total disregard for the safety of pedestrians and speed limits that the drivers of said scooters exhibit.

but while we're at banning things from the playa, if we start down this slipperly slope of PREFERENCES, than i vote here and now to ban all Flip-Flops Tevas and other Toe Exposing footwear from the Playa, forever.

i HATE that sound..flippy floppy flippy floppy flippy floppy..i HATE those disgusting little germ clogs known as toes wiggling and writhing and fouling up the place with their Jam.

COVER THAT SHIT UP PEOPLE! tell you what, you satisfy my little pet peeve, and i wont ride my scooter.
