Camp Nomadia - a camp for Nomads, Vagabonds and travelers

Is travel in your spirit? Is wanderlust your calling? Have you dared to give up a conventional home and make home wherever you happen to be? Is life too short and the world too large to be stationary?

Then we welcome you to join us at Camp Nomadia this year.


This camp has come together in both 2008 and 2009 - with great success.

Our intention with Camp Nomadia is for it to be a nomadic convergence - a group of folks for whom Black Rock City really is our only home for the week.

As many of us are living in motion and are used to being self-contained (and don't have the space to transport extra stuff anyway), Camp Nomadia doesn't currently intend to offer much in the way of camp infrastructure beyond perhaps a group shade structure. We are open to other infrastructure manifesting amongst other campmates - but we intend to keep things easy-going and low-hassle, creating a group synergy based on individual self sufficiency. As such, at present time, we have no camp fees either.


This camp is open to current nomads, future nomads, past nomads, wanna be nomads, part time nomads, domestic nomads, international nomads, technomads, lowtechnomads, land nomads, backpackers, RVers, water nomads, flying nomads or folks who just want to be around nomads (yes, your non-nomadic friends can join too!). Burning Man veterans and virgins alike!

In addition to hosting Camp Nomadia at Burning Man, we'll also be hosting the camp at Gateway Burn (http://www.gatewayburners.com) - a regional event near St. Louis, MO from June 10-13.

Gateway Burn is actively reaching out to nomadic folks, and is allowing nomadic pets to attend the event (realizing that 'Leave the pets at home' means 'bring them with you!')

We welcome any and all nomadic spirits to join us at one or both of the events!

As we're unplaced, we are still accepting new nomads (past, future and present) to join the camp. We're completely no-thrills, no-drama, minimal infrastructrue (just a makeshift crowdsourced shade structure), low organization, no fee camp. Basically, a neighborhood of like minded nomadic spirits all living on the playa self sufficiently. We're up to near a 100 of us now!
