Trying to find a meal plan!!

A few of us (2-4) are out in the.. er, dust... trying to find a meal plan. Our camp can't do one this year and our second option (Benjamin/divinenurishment) has just canceled his plans :-(

Does anyone know of any open meal plans to non-camp members? you'd be helping us out loads!

Just look for Cafeteria camp. Take the complimentary Burning Man Shuttle service from Center Camp, get off at the man, and then take the moving walkway out just past the Arby's. It's right across the street from the free showers and tents.

I heard the DPW is doing a meal plan this year. Cash only and bring your own utensils (knife, fork, plate, mug - recyclables okay). Three bucks for breakfast, five for lunch and dinner. Meals start promptly at 7:00 am, noon, and 7:00 pm, first come first served. Line closes two hours later.

I don't know where they'll let people in, so just show up with your utensils and ask where their cafeteria is.

Actually, FYI, meal plans are ways to collaborate on sharing food, resources, and saving time to enjoy the playa - not to mention a great way to meet other people. 100,000 people/4X3 bottles of propane = shitloads of wasted gas and throw-away tanks... but GREAT idea. I wish I had as much time on my hands as you guys...

It's links to various companies that make food that requires no cooking or just boiling water to prepare. HeaterMeals, MREs and the like have self-heating food (water and magnesium filings create heat). Other foods are freeze dried and you pour boiling water into the pouch then eat out of that; some are the kind you drop in boiling water to heat. There are also survival rations, which are sort of cakes which provide a huge number of calories - just open and eat. Not filling, but you get your daily vitamins and such.

Had to register and reply - Love the negativity - give me a break.

Divine Nourishment, said meal plan, was one of the best things going last year, and Benjamin did a fantastic job. Having one person control the menu and then divide responsibilities between those that participated (i.e. cook and clean in four hour shifts) was really community in action. The same money that was spent individually for much lamer meals was pooled for some gourmet ones instead. Very much similar to any communal meal at a camp but open beyond a single camp's borders. Those that didn't want to concentrate on meals and instead put their energies toward running a camp were extremely grateful.

Haters - we all pitched in. It wasn't like getting served from a roach coach - get a clue. Go take your cold Tastee Bites and your orange fake fur and retreat to your tents.
