I should have said hello so very long ago. But I didn't. I've been lurking and reading the board obsessively since last June when I found out that I could FINALLY get out to the desert on my virgin trip. Yet I never said hello. hehe. how silly of me.

In any case, I am Niki, and I'm here. I'm 25, I live in Pennsylvania, and 2003 was my first year out in BRC. I was camped with the Tribe of the Chattering Monks, which was across the street from Conexus.

My real name is Michael and I work in the telecommunications world as a SS7 Specialist for a large company based out of the South East. Burning man 04 will be my first and I learned about it from some friends that thought it might be a challenge that I'd be up for. Needless to say it sure sounded interesting. I've been labeled as a "survivalist", "gun-nut", "evil genius", and a few other tags that don't need mentioning. I'm 35 years old and have been trying to merge my current interest in engineering with my long lost love of art, into forms that follow function. I look at BM as a grand experiment and a challenge in so many ways. Each person makes the journey to BRC for different reasons, and as is so apparent, personal development and freedom are key. In my 25 year working career I've done about everything you could possibly think of for money. Although, I've always wanted to be a Rocket Scientist..

I'm a transplanted redneck from the mid-west. Actually, I'm from Missouri, but don't hold it against me... I've got the two trucks and a couple of cars along with a couple of motorcycles. Some run and some don't. I'm single and currently recovering from "shitty relationship" syndrome and not looking for any relationship unless it is a meaningful overnight relationship. I have only one dog and no cats. But I like cats... they taste just like chicken.. :twisted:

I like to garden and hope to bring some of my own food and my own blends of tobacco. For those that like to smoke the legal weed I hope to smoke a pipe and share some of my own home brew with you. I'm not much of a drinker but I enjoy the science of it so much I can't help myself. Peach beer or liquor anyone?

My musical tastes are leaning more toward country and 80's pop but with a little rock and roll mixed in. Rap gives me the runs, runs me right out the door, that is... I'm pretty sure that if you stop by our camp I'll be immediately recognizable in my lab coat and clipboard mumbling to myself while taking notes and measurements. I already have a solution for communicating with the world out yonder(tested in Wyoming earlier this year) but other than a cell phone I don't plan on keeping that damn thing, called the world outside, informed of my presence or activities.

I'm also a returning college student after being out of school for nearly 15 years I'm ready to go back and get that little piece of sheep skin that is absolutely critical to get a high paying job, like I have, and the prestege that goes along with it. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up though. Well, thats about enough for now...

No hybrids or electrics yet but I'll get to working on that.. Everything I've got is a gas hog with the exception of the Maxima and all three bikes. 68 cuda's and BMF Dodge p/ups drink gas. For a "Rocket Scientist" project I propose turning our camp into the "Mad Scientist" Camp with all kinds of interesting wacky flight related themed projects. Eh, maybe in 05. Thanks for the welcome... :lol:

Hello ^_^

Well, my name is Janna and I am a newbie. At the moment, I'm very much hoping to make it to BM '04 but I might not be able to because of school. But, I've got my fingers crossed. I'm a bit of a comicbook geek but I'm glad because I stumbled upon Burning Man through a comicbook and it really sparked my curiosity so I did a bit of superficial reseach at first but the more I go through the image galleries the more I feel a pull to go so I'm really hoping I'll be able to make it out. It'll be my first burn and I'm really excited, just thinking about it inspires me to no end.

Umm...on top of that, I'm live in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital of Canada) start attending the University of Ottawa on January 5th in Classical studies (I get to learn latin! *happy dance*). I love animals and have a particular affinity for large cats and german sheaperds (I have two of them)

Ive made quite a few posts on various threads but not yet on this one so I figured I'd stop by and say hello to all! I am a Burning Man newbie, 2004 will be my first burn and NOTHING is going to stop me! I've already sent in my request for the time off at work to make sure no one else tries to take the same week off and screw me out of it! I read everything I can, have volunteered with greeters and lamplighters, am on the subscribe list for JRS and la-burners, and belong to the ocburners group. I've meet about 25 veteran burners and can not say enough good things about all of them. Had the pleasure of meeting Zachary Coffin and some of his engineer cohorts (Temple of Gravity's daddy) Living 10 minutes from where the temple is currently residing has given me a sense of awe! To all of you vets who give such great worldly/other worldly advise - love, hugs and kisses!!!! I will soon be attending an EL wire workshop where I get to play with pretty colors that light up - the road of discovery that leads to burning man is proving to be a series of adventures already! Sorry for ranting - I get a little carried away

Hello! My name is Cyndi, my friends call me Cyn. I was thrilled to see there are other widespread fans across the globe that also were going to the burn. My brother has been in NV for 8 years and has finally gotten me to come out to BM. So I will see you all at the summers final end. I am very excited, nervous, and down right happy about it. Oh yeah....I am NOT bringing my husband and 3 kids!!! (yet!)

Thanks for the inspiration... I am really thrilled to be going. Your right though main stream does not share my enthusiasm. A few co- workers looked it up online after I announced I was going, and well they are shocked that I am doing it. I plan to camp with my brother, his girl and my sister....I believe 2 years ago they were the "Reno Barbarians"? but don't quote me. I will be with loved ones, which makes it all the better....but I cant wait to meet new friends.

I know the feeling! My BOSS actually checked out the BM web site after I put in my request for my vacation for 2004 (oh yeah - already claimed the dates-they're MINE I tell you!)
So, she thougt I was nuts and then on a dress down Friday I finally wore a dress that did not cover the tats on my calves - that went over really well too!

Isnt it amazing how they think they know who and what we are?? It was the best shock when I actually applied for my motorcycle license, not only did my company get a huge shock...but my husband is still not sure what the hell is going on!!! BTW...I put my vaca time in yesterday, and wow that felt great!!
