Hello All! This will be my first time on the playa, although I do have a lot of current friends already longtime burners. I super ready to come out and have fun with them and everyone else! My only burn experience has been at the LA Decom this year with my buddies Squachek, Launa Staehle, and Mark White. So much crazy times! Looking for opportunities to spin at any camps, parties, anythings there. I love spinning deep, whether 120 chill sunset feel, or deep and hard dancey sets to roll into the sunrise! I also have a great collection of Progressive Tech, Minimal Tech, and some Breaks to rock out with when the mood is right. If you know of any camps looking for a DJ to fill spots, point them my way, and let me know you did so so I can thank you! Check out sets below and looking forward to the burn!

Hi Jay!

Most camps don't read the Introduce Yourself forums, so the best way to get a gig is to look at the 2013 Theme Camps forum, or maybe write to a few of last year's camps:

. . . and offer your services. Keep in mind there are a lot of DJs, so . . . there's a lot of competition. (The bigger camps start booking their DJs almost as soon as the previous Burn ends.) If you don't find what you're looking for, just go and enjoy your first Burn.

If you get some flak here, keep in mind that it's because DJs often swoop in here like God's gift, seeking publicity and a career boost.

However, if there's more to you than that, it might not be so bad.

ETA: I do know a DJ who brings all his own equipment to the Burn--laptop fulla music, turntables, mysterious things with dials, CDs, half a dozen speakers on stands, a few lights, everything. He plays a little in the afternoon every day, and 2-3 nights a week. He doesn't need a permit or a listing in a guide (although he could have the latter, easily). It's a gift to his camp and very well-received by the group and the neighbors and passersby, but it's not a career builder; it's just fun and gratifying on a neighborhood scale. That's another approach, but it's not super cheap.

I myself would like an emoticon with one eye bigger than the other, and another with little bluebirds flying around the head. And a poledancing smiley. And maybe some hugging ones. I want enough of them to craft long and intricate stories.

The late great Terminal Village had an in-house board similar to ePlaya. Some of the "emoticons" were so tall they took up several lines of space and made it difficult to read. But horizontal smilies should work fine, such as a DJ being kicked down the street by a bunch of us wielding pitchforks. Sure wish I knew enough about pooters do create such things. I cannot even draw. (But I can learn stuff, can't I?!)

Oh, and.... "SuperFunTimes" sounds like an advertisement for senior citizen bus tours to slot-machine dens.

Ha! Thank you all. I know, I know... DJ's... fistpumping... arrogant bitches... not I. I spin with a bunch of DJ's from the BM camps all the time, so it's more of me wanting to play with my peers and spin music for people who want to dance and enjoy the experience, not just get stupid and hook up like the LA club scene. All too ready for the flak I'm sure to receive here on the boards though. Looking forward to meeting and playing with you all... and hoping to answer Asquared's question from an internal perspective once the everyday is stripped away. See you at Bequinox in a few!

Just remember the golden rule of dance music:
When all who want to dance can hear it, it is loud enough. Anything louder is just the DJ showing off how far he can piss.
