New York times channels The Onion

The gray lady is looking a bit... odd

With an increase both in density and in the atmosphere of busy professionalism, Brooklyn no longer feels as carefree as it did, said Ari Wallach, a futurism consultant, who recently cut short a Brooklyn real estate search.
“There is more looking down, less eye contact,” said Mr. Wallach, 38. “The difference is between the first three days of Burning Man, when everyone is ‘Hey, what’s up?’ to the final three days of Burning Man, when the tent flaps are down. Brooklyn is turning out to be the last three days of Burning Man.”

The middle would be Thursday, which I assume involves heading to your tents to close the flaps.

Burning Man has become a metaphor to be used by and for people who have never been there.
The Alps fill the mind with an agreeable kind of horror.

I have met these people even here.
They are the social equivalent of the abfab crew exploiting Morocco as they make a low flying visit.

Just as the artsy midtown scene here is now too expensive for anyone artsy, they predict a playa fled by the serious, as predictable as flight to the suburbs was thirty years ago.
Look it up.
The sociologists knew.

Yeah I took to Wasteland Weekend... Where you can still carry a gun to center camp and no one bats an Eye...

And a helluva lot cheaper... Just as hot...

We need to get this into the What/When/Where Guide this year.

Thursday, One-Time Events: 8:00am-8:05am: Close Your F@#$ing Flaps.

Friday, One-Time Events: Noon. Ice Hockey.
