Nice to read about someone who didn't like Burning Man, but didn't crap all over it. At elast he was able to admit that his own insecurities ruined the experience for him, while his dad's nature allowed him to embrace the experience.

Definitely cringe worthy, but balanced. I like balance.

It's not all beauty and light. The harshness is not just the environment, not every workshop is well taught or conceived, and some drinks taste like shit.

Also, loved the father wandering off to the Naked Tiki Bar.

It sounds like someone who's very uptight to begin with (which he all but admits in the early paragraphs), who didn't let themselves get acclimated. We've all had the crankies due to the environment out there, and the first day or two can be rough on even the most prepared veteran.

If you throw yourself into it without allowing yourself time to used to the altitude & the dryness, you could cause your whole week to go to shit. Oh, wait, he did...
