Hello! I'm n0remac and this is going to be my first burning man. I have been doing a lot of research and am getting very excited. Some friends and I are all coming together. I have an idea to build a musical house as an attraction. It would be a building that is basically made out of musical instruments. Marimba keys, tuned wires, bells, horns, drums, ext. Everything would be tuned to a pentatonic scale so it would be easy for community jam sessions.

Hello, I am the one they call Cobbler. I can fix almost anything and I love to help people stand on their own (feet, tentacles, fins, claws, fire breathing snail tanks, etc.). I attended my first burn and decom last year (2012) with a new group called Alter Ego at Tiny's Lounge. Sadly, I will be missing the burn this year to stand up in a good (yet inconsiderate) friend's wedding. I come to ePlaya looking to remain a part of the greater BM community until I can attend again in 2014 and try to meet people in my new city, San Diego!

So bummed that I did not go back then....I enjoy snowboarding and Mt Biking...And i just got back from BRC where I went snowshoeing last Sunday....It was epic!!!!

Hello my name is Alise and some may call me Aqua, although I haven't heard that name in quite a while. I plan to be a first time burner this year! I've been wanting and trying to go for the past 7 years when I was first introduced to the culture, but because of "life" I never could seem to make it happen. This year for me is about reaching deep within myself to once again remember who I truly am and what I am here on this planet to do. I have just recently begun working on starting my own business which is opening a early children's learning center (sort of a children's museum) and teaching art lessons. I believe the key to a brighter and better future is nurturing and help guide youth. I encourage expression, creativity, laughter, exploration, and love. I honestly cannot wait to experience Burning Man because I know that I will feel right at home. I haven't yet reached out to my friends who I know have been burners for many years, but I hope to find some amazing people to camp with since I won't know all the "in's & outs". Hi everyone, I'm Apprentice Dreamer - looking forwards to a first year at Burning Man this year. I've wanted to go since I first heard about it, I looked into it seriously a few years but this is the first time when things seem to have come together & I'm able to go and have the motivation to make it happen. I'm coming from the UK so logistics'll be a bit of a learning curve but it looks like there's a lot of info here on eplaya & a lot of folk willing to share their experience.
Will be coming on my own, sadly, so ideally looking to connect with a UK camp, or pick up a US RV and find some folk who want to share.
Looking forward to throwing myself into BM & meeting the tribe.

I'm Wendela, I'm from The Netherlands and planning to go to Burning Man this year. It will be my first time. Over the past few years I heard about BM several times, but never got around to actually go there. Up until now, my friends don't want to go (no time or money) or are not sure... I don't want to wait any longer so am planning to go on my own. In the next few months I hope to find some people I can go with. I've been to many parties in Europe, but as far as I heard... BM is something else! Really looking forward to that experience!

I am Bromance. The name comes from my first burn in 2011. I am a member of Paradise Motel (Yeah free Snow cones!) which is now a very mixed (Straight/ gay/ guys/ girls) camp but was less so two years ago, due to the fact that I many of my close Burner friends are straight guys the older members of the camp gave me the name.

I had wanted to attend Burning Man since when I first heard about it in 2005 but was in the military (Long story). When I was able to go in 2011 I went to be able to check it off my bucket list. Little did I know "This thing in the desert" would change my life.

When I am not participating as a member of BRC. I work in comedy (Writing, stand-up ect).

Hi, my name is Hannah. This year will be my first Burn, I was intending to go last year but due to circumstances I had to give my ticket away to a friend. I'm excited to be going this year because I'll be going with my sister!! We will be taking the time to explore the SF area as well, because we are both from Europe. We're both creative people and were thinking about joining a camp to do some body/clothe painting. Can anyone tell me what the benefits are of joining a camp rather than camping solo? Thanks!

In addition to going "alone" one year (you don't stay alone) I went with just one other person at least 4 times. I'm actually very fond of the very-small-group dynamic, but have had years when a bigger groups were what I sought out . . . and I visit friends at big camps all the time.

Hello everybody! I'm Joel- this will be my first year attending Burning Man. I've been wanting to go since I first experienced the sense of community and love that a festival can bring. Although the festivals I've been to arent the same as BM I feel they've semi-prepared me for this life changing week. I should also mention that I'm in a wheelchair...NO WORRIES though... I've been reading every bit that I can to be ready AND I kick ass considering my limitations. Im not sure about building an art piece our first year but am very skilled with lights, 12v stuff, LEDs, sound, solar setups, and programming these things to do very cool things! I'd love to help someone out if needed. I'm SO excited to meet all of you creative amazing people!

Hi Joel! I'm glad you've found some resources for yourself already.

You're right--no need to build an art piece your first year unless you are on fire with the unstoppable urge to do so.

Your lighting skills might be very attractive to a camp, so don't hesitate to mention them if you find a camp you like in the 2013 Theme Camp forum (which hasn't become super busy yet) or elsewhere.

Where are you from? Have you met your locals?

It's not as busy as it'll be in a few months, so be patient if you don't see a camp that intrigues you. There's a great thread at the top called "How to Join a Theme Camp ". Read that.

You're right, the Burning Man Austin regional site is down. Try this site:

The regional tickets seem to be gone, but you might be able to meet some folks at the Spring Town Hall on the 9th or the Burner Bazaar on Feb 10th. There also seems to be a Burning Man Austin Facebook group, but I don't know anything about it.
