Back in 2002 I was a part of a project on playa called the Tsound Tsunami. We had a radio station and Every day at sunset, We would broadcast the sounds of waves at the beach for about an hour or so. All of the sound systems on 2 0'clock and 10 o'clock would plug a radio in, tune in, and rebroadcast the sound on their systems. You could walk out in deep playa and hear the huge, yet quiet and serene sound. The result was quite soothing. I would like to bring this back - and try to make it CITYWIDE. A citywide moment of synthetic silence, every evening at sunset, before the parties begin. I will be broadcasting an hour (or two or three) of synthetic silence, sounds of the beach, sounds of the forest, subtle quiet atmospheres, every day at sunset on 88.1 FM. If you are operating a soundsystem, wether it is stationary on on an art car, consider bringing a radio along that you can plug into your system to re-broadcast. If you are a broadcaster, please consider doing the same, it would be great to have the sounds of the beach all across the dial at sunset...
