I dont think I saw a pic of last year's ticket until they were shipped... Keeps fakes from showing up for a while!!

That's kinda what I figured. Just trying to get back on tickets. Sure would be nice to be a part of the designing. Where would one start to be a part of that? Would like to try one year.

Trilo - Do you know of any kind of policy or safeguard in place against multiple ticket purchases from the same IP address?

On ticket purchase day, I was planning on buying 2 for me under my name but also helping my sister-in-law purchase hers since she has to work that day. I'll be hitting refresh on two different computers that are side by side but running through the same router of course. Would I have any issues with this?

Couldn't you buy your tickets, then turn off the router to recycle it? It would be assigned a new IP address when it rebooted. Unless you are paying for a static IP address.

Some internet providers give you back the same IP address.. At least, they do up here. Maybe in the larger cities that is not the case. But I would not rely on or expect that to happen.

That's definitely not the case here. All personal accounts have dynamic IP addresses. If you need/want a static IP you have to pay more for it.

DCHP works on the concept of leasing a dynamic IP. When you refresh you're typically renewing the lease. Most of the time you get the same IP back unless your computer is offline for some amount of time which can be anywhere from two hours to two days. After which they may have assigned that IP to someone else and you'll get a different one. Normally though you'll stay with the same IP for a long time. Months and months in my experience.

You can also have lots of people simultaneously using the same IP address using network address translation (NAT). For example, everybody using the wireless at a coffee shop is probably on the same IP, even though users have their own private IP provided by the wireless router's NAT/DHCP system. Blocking based on IP really isn't very effective these days when there can be so much "collateral damage"; I wouldn't expect BMOrg to ever filter based on it especially given that it's also easily circumvented.

xjoehem, it really isn't that hard to figure out. Registration for the Individual Sale will be open from February 6th to February 10th. Stay tuned to the Jack Rabbit Speaks and/or the tickets page when that date rolls around.

Conflicting FAQ: The Burningman FAQ states in one place that if someone uses their credit card to pay for your ticket, you must change the name...why would this be when we don't have to show ID, except at will call? Next it says, you can sell a ticket at face value without changing the name...so My question is shouldn't these questions have the same answer or am I missing something?

The credit card name on the purchase must match the user name of the Burner Profile.

If the ticket is to be shipped, then you are absolutely correct, the name on the order doesn't really matter once you have tickets in hand. Of course, they won't be in hand for 4-5 months, and if the tickets are sold or gifted you'd need to change the name and address on the order to make sure it gets sent to the right place when they're mailed out.

Tickets held at will call are the only ones where it really matters what name is on the order in the long run, because that individual has to show up at the gate with The necessary ID in order to claim the tickets.

my apologies if this was answered, but i didn't see it....

... what if you didn't register and the main sale doesn't sell out? at that point, can you register at any point and then buy a ticket? i ask for my camp mates that are in the "maybe" crowd...

No, you would not be able to participate in the Individual Sale. You would, however, still be able to register for STEP (the secure ticket exchange program) and the OMG sale in August. If there are any unsold tickets in the Individual Sale, they would likely wind up there.
