Hi from Cairns, Australia

Hi from Cairns, Australia

Postby Piginatutu » Sat Jan 12, 2013 8:42 pm

Halo! We're a couple from Cairns and are coming to our first BM this year as part of a longer trip.

We went to the Eclipse Festival near Cairns last year and after minimal camping in hot, deserty, dusty, windy conditions decided we'd like to be a bit more comfortable at BM (as far as is possible when coming in from OS and not wanting to spend a ridiculous amount on an RV hire). So we'll be posting questions about logistics for vehicle/kitting up from a coming-in-from-OS perspective.

We've spent hours on the BM website and ePlaya so have a bit of an idea of what info is there and will try not to repeat questions. Thanks in advance for the community's help with our planning!

(PS we get that BM is not a 'festival', just mentioned Eclipse Aus as it sounds like a bit similar conditions)

Hi Piginatutu. Nice nick.

The Shelter & Camping forum has stuff about RVs (and a great thread about box trucks, which are basic, but way cheaper):

Hola and hello...

Was the Eclipse festival put on by Symbiosis? They put one on here in N. Nevada last year during the eclipse in May. It was held at Pyramid Lake, which is just down the road from the playa.

If so, don't worry,BM is much better organized...
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Hi all and thanks for the welcome.

Savannah thanks for the link - we'd already started perusing that one but will mine it a bit more.

Lucky420, Yes Symbiosis was one of the event organisers of Eclipse along with others (Rainbow Serpent, Glade +more). Glad to hear BM is better organised...Eclipse did get a bit feral as the week progressed (I'll spare you the detail :))
