you might also try Weekend papers. A friend in Vancouver, says she sees from time to time, "gamblers specials" where you fly to Reno, stay, and fly home, for a very reasonable price, and even get money or meal tickets, from various casinos.

how does it work? do we all sort of wander between rooms, does someone, or several, sort of "host" where we bring the potluck booze and snacks?
or do we wander Reno like a mindless (but very attractive) hoard?
Just wondering if there is, or wants to be, any of that.

confirmed reservation for Sands. My confirmation email says 40 minutes from beautiful Lake Tahoe and then... what's this? 4 blocks from the National Bowling Stadium There's such a thing? I'm imagining a football stadium with a bowling lane way down there. No, I can't get my mind around it. usually the ceilings seem low, the smoke haze, the NOISE... kablam! a stadium? I think I'll have to see this.

47.70 with taxes included for Saturday is Doc's deal, and it's good, but I wasn't sure that it was good for Sunday as well. (and I didn't ask) um, Sunday is cheaper, so the average for the two nights for the straight Sand's price is 42.00 a night plus the taxes.

IIRC the lanes at the bowling stadium are often booked solid, if ya wanna bowl. Maybe someone from Reno knows more?

"Guerilla style" partying in a hotel usually entails someone who's willing to open their rooom for everyone. It's often the best room with a view and extra space, also furniture can be moved from the other rooms to accomodate food/snacks/booze/extra seating etc. Perhaps a ghetto blaster too?

Stepping it up a BIG knotch would mean being booked 'Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton" style. Basically the entire floor and the floors above & below are booked/blocked out so as not to disturb anyone else in the hotel. I doubt we can afford that, nor will we need it, since we're a warm, friendly, cuddly bunch, right?

I'll have a vehicle, so a shopping run is possible. As to a quiet evening on Sunday, Well, I'm all about the peace and quiet when I'm on vacation. Don't know what I'm getting myself into. Don't feed me after midnight, or throw me in water. Bad stuff happens.
