When my ladyfriend had everything in her car stolen, it took quite a lot to get the cash, cards, and license back.

I think ladyfriend was fully in her rights to get it, they just didn't want to part with "evidence". They never really told her no, just hemmed and hawed over it.

hi guys *thumps ECM* i got an email today, after sending 2 yesterday, that it is "possible" they will get the van back today and "may" call me to arrange getting my tools back. So yea thinking "virtual" death threats appears to work. I shall cancel the order for a remington700 now. is virtual assassination a crime yet?

anyway after getting a call from my flatmate offering work and another 1/2 later cancelling i now have nothing to do for some time except drink coffee

Waiting for the washer delivery. Larry is working on the water shutoff valves, they broke when he was installing the new deep sink. When we first moved in, there were no shut off valves, you had to turn off all the house water to work on any of the plumbing. He's been fixing that one pipe at a time over the years. Kinda need water in order to install and test the new machine. Plus he has to go to work to attend the safety training. If he goes once a quarter, he gets a $500 bonus. He has online ones he has to do, but the in person session is paid time. Worth the drive in, yeah?

I was simply able to imagine it working.

Sometime in the fifties or sixties or early seventies, my Aunt had a job in Italy in which she would do logistics for the Americans who were working for the company there. This included things like renting apartments and making sure that they had heat, water, phones, the whole bit. Now, apparently, all that stuff you hear about the Italians being less than perfectly reliable on those sorts of things are true. So, once she was setting up services for an American family and could not get the power turned on. As it turns out, the family features a pair of adorable young, blond twins, so she took them with her to the power company or municipal office or whatever the appropriate bureaucracy was and sort of went off, in Italian (like Simon, she went to a Swiss finishing school--and she came out fluent in multiple languages) about the bambini and how they needed heat, and they looked at the adorable twins and turned on the power.

From that time on, she'd take the twins and recite the same story every time. The guys at the office knew, but I guess they were okay with that.

I suspect, though, Graidawg, that these twins are a little past the adorable stage, so I have nothing helpful.

had a good day today. Was going threw a box of jewlery that my dad gave my after my grandpa died from my great grandmother and i thought it was all costume jewelry... boy was i wrong! Found a pearl bracelet and necklace with i think real diamonds. going to go have it apprazed in the morning. Locked away safe for now though. Cant wait to see what it is worth!
