A friend has one of these coming, so I'll get to try it out soon.
He is quite impressed with the 5.7x28 performance that so many are dubious about.

What an elegant design!
Extremely sophisticated.
Unfortunately very difficult to build the receiver and unnecessarily complex to convert to single fire, per atf rules.

Beautiful work, even though this is the copy of the german gun that was the "cheap" solution to the more complex MG34.

Too much to talk about, but what a design!
The quick change barrel is actually part of the bolt.
Recoil is adjustable in two ways, which also changes the auto fire rate somewhat.
It is a design that wants to fire at 1700 rounds per minute, but was slowed down to 1200 or less.
Barrel weight was also used to change rate of fire.
Very impressive.

I can't help grinning when I see Big Fire!
I have so missed that this year.

I remember urging someone with a big fire machine to bring it out again.
So I see him and he says he filled the tanks.
He fires it off and it's so loud we can't hear each other, but we both can't stop grinning and laughing.
You can see that BIG FIRE thing in other people, can't you?

i'm going to try to make the national pyrotech show to make up for burning man.
There's at least one burner that never misses it.

25-20 and 38-55.

Just received my new baby, a DPMS Panther LR308 with the 24" bull barrel. Damn things a monster LOL. It doesn't come with optics, have a scope on the way along with some other hardware. Need to order buis as well. Next payday lol. Nice to see that in my area .308 ammo is no more expensive then what I pay for 5.56.

Can't wait to take her out to the range and pop off a few.

I actually had no problem going through metal detectors over and over again with the bullet, or going to court.
After the first time, I was being rejected for my dangerous weapon, a AAA flashlight just over the maximum four inch length.
I went to another building to complain about the silly flashlight issue, and they used a wand, and found the bullet.
Stuck in a flap in a pocket.
That building had no problem with the flashlight.
They kept my bullet.

These government buildings give all sorts of explanations, but they just sit around and make up this shit.
They blame the rules on everything under the sun.

I didn't say it made sense.

The Desert Eagle uses a fixed barrel with a separate slide.
It's gas operated with a rotary lug, more similar to a rifle action than a handgun.
I think the largest version made now is for the .50AE.



Muzzle flash may be an issue, among other things.

I can't see how a magazie big enough for a .50 bmg would be holdable in a pistol grip.

That 50 BMG was magazine fed.
There have been a number of single fire pistols.

Very little in common between the BMG and the AE.

Even the smaller 50AE is supposed to be two handed.
These things are bench fired if you want any accuracy.
I have no idea how you hold the 50BMG version of that.
Most never get fired.

These things would make a great bear round, but look at the weight.

Worth noting that the gun imported as the 'baby' Desert Eagle is an effective and completely different weapon, based on CZ and Tanfoglio design. (apparently imported by Kahr now)

I giggle at all those who need the "newest/best"........it's like fashion.
there is a cartridge/weapon combo, for every inch of fall, from 50' to 1K yards.
has been since Weatherby started with the "magnums" and high velocity.
same with foot pounds.......little to lots.

all the "newest/best" is marketing.
fun, to be sure, but just marketing.
Go back to the choices in 1960, and see if you can find a new cartridge any different, substantially, different.
