Decided that today is a good day to start talking about the Meet and Greet for 2013.

Lessons from 2012

1. The roping off and bouncers worked well - but next time make sure the name tags are picked up earlier so that it's easier to spot interlopers.
2. Make sure the wine tasting isn't doubled booked in the What, When, Where Guide.
3. Drink less espresso martini

I'm sure there is a bunch more.

So tell me, what did you like and what could have been done better?

It would have been better if I had saved a jelloshot for Fishy,,, she was late DAMMIT!

I wish I would have pursued certain opportunities more aggressively.

I'd say, pre made name tags and tighter control on self made "as they show up". Seemed lots of interlopers just filled one out and were in anyway
But, it was one of the best nights, I've ever had.......BRC or anywhere, any time.

It might be handy for the relatively dimwitted (such as myself)
to have a picture of people's avatar by their name on the tags.

It seemed to help some, last year, though they were too small to see from a distance.

I have such a poor memory for names,
and was thrilled to find how to show them with all the fantastic pics by Turtleburp.
(Wish there were even more!!)

One thing I do know fer shure is,

Hi, I enjoy talking to everyone here and was kind of puzzled when I got to the meet n greet. Yes, it was roped off. I was on the outside. Everyone I wanted to meet was on the inside. When I finally got in, (around 7:30), lots of people had run off to the core burn. Did I crash the party. I dunno. I thought 1,000 posts about it meant everyone was welcome. Once I jumped the rope I felt welcome and got to meet you-all face to face. It was great!! Being shunned, not so great.

I finally made it to the M&G and loved it. (Next year show up on time and stay later -- avoid 6 AM shift Friday morning. And maybe drink a bit less .)

Wonder if we could recruit someone with good handwriting to write nametags? Some of us, such as me, are incapable of writing even our own names legibly, even sober. I suspect I missed some people I would have liked to talk to because I could not read their tag. (Or they were avoiding me, since my tag was very legible. ) (Thank you for writing my tag this year, somebody!)

Question: Would chocolate be welcome? Fancy European chocolate confections? I may be able to bring some over during the winter, and I can keep them from melting until the M&G. (Silly question, right?)

EDIT: Ah, I don't type fast enough, regarding name tags!

(Maybe I should have saved it. I have so much crap. I'm afraid of losing the good stuff--or worse, not respecting it properly. But I cannot spend my life saving the good stuff to the point where there is no room for Fishy.)

Actually, I think that the board made the avatars bigger by default this year. But I'll do my best to make them as large as possible.

Avatars can now be the size of mine. But people have to upload new ones of this size. They don't grow by themselves.

This year went off quite smoothly and the only improvement I can suggest is arranging the couches a bit differently so the aisle by the food is not so tight.

I really love my nametag that JK made last year (thanks JK!) It's hanging in the camper, all dusty, just the way I like it.

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going next year. I'd love to go solo this time and check out Jungo Rd. Who knows, maybe I'll run across on odd sort out of Rochester pushing a bike
