So I have said that I don't go to Burning Man unless I have a compelling reason (besides its fun and cool of course).

Got an idea for an installation/construction/whatzis. It has to do with making music with the wind.

Imagine a set of aluminum tubes, all the same length (about eight-ten feet), positioned vertically such that their open ends catch the playa wind.

A tube with a wide bore will sound in a fundamental frequency only, while narrower tubes will sound in the overtone series or the undertone series depending on whether the lower end is closed.

If this makes any sense to you and you want to work on an interesting project, let me know.

One of the most interesting wind chimes I've ever heard was made with large electrical conduit in lengths around 6 feet long. It produced a very low sound that reverberated for a long time.

I was toying with an idea for interactive lighting on a mini half-pipe skateboard ramp. It would use sensors to trigger lighting effects as you skated. Then, I realized that its best effect would be at night when it is hardest to skate it. So, I started to think about using sensors in certain areas of the ramp to play sounds and other musical parts. The idea would be that you could create music while skateboarding.

For past 6 months or so, our dog has been surviving on the insulin shots that comes to him twice a day. I have saved all the caps from every single shot.
I want to make some form of appreciation out of it, for him. I don't know what yet...

One year there was a turning sculpture, it had open plastic bottles on it and would sing in the wind as it spun.

My big idea for a playa art project one day is a large skeletal rib cage, spine and animal skull poking up through the ground, but an animal hide (fabric of some sort) raggedly clings to the ribs providing some shelter. Inside the ribcage is plush and crocheted internal organs and viscera. It's big enough for two in there. A warm shelter from the cold.

Nearby is a fire ring with unlit logs and kindling.

It's called "To Build a Fire" based on a Jack London short story I read when I was young.

A trapper or prospector alone with his dog in the Yukon is slowly freezing to death. He can't light a fire and contemplates killing his dog just so he can warm his hands long enough to light a match.

I have a few ideas...

My first idea is to build an interactive wall called the Before I Die Memorial Wall. I try to seize the day as often as I can. Even if this means jumping in the ocean for an hour long surf on my way to or from work. I try to do everything that I want with my precious time on earth. I feel that death is one of my biggest motivators in life. It's not that I sulk over the fact that I will eventually die, but I try to live my life the way I want to until that day comes, or until I'm not physically fit or healthy enough. This is a very simple project... I would construct a wall out of wood (I think) that people could write their life long goals and dreams on. The words "Before I Die" would be constructed on the top in a way that Playa wonderers would be able to read this from all angles. I think this would get people to dig deep into their passions and dreams. Maybe it could start a few sparks, motivating people to go out and live every day of their life to the fullest. Maybe some people will get the same motivation from reading what other people write.

That is a great idea... if only I can find how to melt caps at home, dodging all the toxic fumes.

I've always wanted to build a lightweight wind surfer. Sort of a modified skateboard with a sail, or even a wind suit on roller skates.
As far as bigger projects go, stationary wind sailing, but it would be depended on it being REALLY windy, and that's not actually a guarrentee.

I want to build a hot tub car. Take a chassis from a toyota pick up, and mount a 4 person hot tub to it. The heat for the water would come from the engine. Instead of a radiator, water would flow from the block to the hot tub, then back into the motor.

The driver would sit in the hot tub while driving, using hand controls on the steering wheel. Much like a motorcycle.

The big problem is filling/emptying the hot tub
