Pros and Cons of Swamp Coolers (a.k.a. Evaporative coolers)

So, I know that swamp coolers work well in dry climates. And I know that they consume far less electricity than A/C. I also know they use water to operate.

But, before I rig my camper van with a swamp cooler, I'm wondering if the increased humidity in the cooled space will cause playa to stick to all the surfaces like a powdered doughnut. If cleanup goes from vacuuming and wiping down dust to chiseling dried playa mud. . . well, that would suck.

Anyone ever use a swamp cooler on playa in a in a vehicle? What were the results?

The cooler washes the air coming into the space.

If the exhaust is slightly less than the intake, it creates a slight possitive pressure that keeps the dust out.

The only dust in my space is what comes in on me.
