sharing a brc themed background image I made

Fertility 2.0 - Black Rock City is a kind of Petri dish. Theme camps cling in fertile clusters to its latticework of streets, artworks tumble out of it, like pollen on the air. These nodes of interaction mutate, grow and reproduce their kind. Burning Man communities have now escaped this capsule world: our culture in a Petri dish has effloresced - it spreads across five continents. This year's art theme contemplates the tendency of any being or living system to create abundant life.

I made a background image using a picture I took and the official 2012 burning man map and wanted to share it with everyone here.

Feel free to use/derive from it!

What a coincidence! I did too! It may look bad when stretched out on a desktop though.

not quite sure what to think about the mockery.

privately, it feels like having a gift thrown back at me because it doesn't fit with certain tastes.

on the other hand, i really don't want to care because it was made for me and just wanted to share with the eplaya to do as you please... like it, hate it, or mock it. :D

I hope nobody connects the shape of the BM emblem with the DNA double-helix. That would be terrible.

Your picture would fit better over in the 2012 Art/Theme thread area. Perhaps ask a Mod to move it there for you.

I think you're on the right track with the second option. An artist can't control the world's reaction to what they produce any more than a parent can demand that the world like their child.

If you make something, you might be happiest if the act of creating it and the courage it takes to exhibit it are in themselves worthwhile, to you . . . not just the reception ultimately received.

I suspect that the verdent green expanse is a little sideways from most experiences of the playa. That may be a factor.
