USPS Global Express Mail isn't a courier, it's a postal service... Canada Post picks it up on this side of the border... I have mail forwarding with Canada Post to my parents' house starting August 1, I leave town August 4 to do a rather elongated road trip with BM in the mix. Worse comes to worse they'll be sending me my tickets to a point on my travels in Vancouver. But it's like, argh. Seriously? I planned my life as to "NOTE: Packages will not be sent until June 2012."

It's just making me anxious, possibly for no good reason, and I know that the lesson here is "shit happens, let go" but if I don't get to go to the Burn because of mail shenanigans, that'll just about break my heart. And teach me that Will Call is apparently the only way to do this.

My sister got the notification that her ticket was to be picked up at the post office, went, and it wasn't there. They've misplaced it. Has this happened to anyone else? Seems shady to me, on the post office side.

That's screwed up. MyPlayaUserName, urge her to document that down to the ground, and not to walk away without proof that they have misplaced her order. Hope it's just a temporary scare.

I got my ticket last Wednesday. I recieved notification that I had successfully bought a ticket via e-mail last December. I printed out that e-mail, and archived it. Then, I sat and waited. I started worrying in June, but sure enough, now I've got it.

I really feel for all those folks who didn't get a ticket, but this one is for ME. Last year, my job was in jeopardy. I stayed home because of the uber-conservative nature of the folks at work. I had to re-interview to retain my job, and managed it successfully. Now, I've got to get to BRC. Last year, I lost 4 people who were very important to me, and I need to get to the Temple to think, to grieve, and to renew.

From that point onward, it's all a new world.

What's the timing on the notification? I got the notice that it was delivered and signed for at the post office, but then they delivered it to my office anyway and had me sign the receipt there. Was it an email notification or a card left behind?

She got her notice from the post office Friday and didnt go in because they usually attempt a second and third delivery. But since they didn't she went into the post office today and they told her they can't find it and are looking in "all the wrong places". She waited for her mail man today and he didn't have it....I would just say 'oh a lost parcel, coincidence' but honestly I had a feeling something like this would happen and so did she as last week she found her mail piled up on her door step in a neat pile instead of in her box where it is usually. But for the post office to leave a notice implies it either really is lost or that someone in the post office thinks they can score a free ticket.

Most USPS employees dont care or even know how freaking precious burning man tickets are... it is just another package to them and they do the usual average job of handling things.
The envelope does not have a "Burning man tickets inside" label on it.
And the notice left by post office did not promise second and third delivery, only a "pick up at post office" message.

If the tracking information says that ticket has been delivered and she still has the notice, she can go back to post office and ask them politely to search again. Most are super friendly if you catch them during their not-so-busy hours. The package will technically be returned to sender after 10-15 days (can't remember the exact day count).

If the post office confirms that her package is lost, its better for her to contact burning man ticket team. She might have to get a note from post office as proof that her package is lost.

ETA: My email said to contact post office (usps.com) if the package wasnt received within 10 days of shipment. I had issue with one of my package and USPS did a decent job of opening an "investigation" and trying to track it for me.

Everyone else I know who got tickets has theirs in hand already. Is this normal? Is there anyone else here who purchased in the main lottery and hasn't heard anything?

I am in Canada (Toronto) and have not received my tickets - nor have I received a shipping notification from USPS. Same goes for a few close to me who are in Canada.
