Just bought a crazy golf cart: what should I turn it into?

Yeah, but nothing else is really calling to me enough to put huge amounts of time (which I totally don't have at the mo), money and effort into making something amazing. I don't do things half-assed, so... maybe by next year something will strike me as the best thing to turn it into.

Like you said initially the golf cart is not just a MV, it is a support vehicle.

I used to have a hand puppet that looked like a Gofer. I really wish I still had it, because I would mail it to you ASAP. Maybe if you can find a little stuffed Gofer you could mount him to the Golf cart someplace.

I agree with Brody here, what is the point of buying or makeing a machine that sits around gathering dust in a back yard or shop somewhere. It is a lot more fun to use the equipment where more peolpe can see and enjoy it. Vehicles where built to be used not just sit there for fear of damaging it, but not everyone see's it that way.

I agree on the golf cart and most other things. Why buy them if you can't use and enjoy them.

But you can't say that about ALL objects. Some are meant to be enjoyed in totally nonutilitarian ways.

We just went over my golfcart based, funky-fied, gas four stroke, moonmobile and the #1 thing we focused on was BEEFING UP THE DUST SNORKEL!!

Your Yammi may or may not need a dust snorkel. I'd have a good mechanic (preferably one familiar with playa dust) look into the air intake.
If the fresh, clean air intake (air box) is in a bad spot, such as pointing down toward the playa, then this could be the year to have a dust snorkel installed.

Dust snorkel or not, I would bring several new air filters and get familiar with the process of opening the air box and replacing the clogged air filter with a new one.
You can also extend the life of an air filter by banging it against something solid (the tire) to clean the dust out.

A centrifugal force pre filter from a tractor could stop a lot of dust from entering the air filter and may be a good attachment mounted on top of a snorkel. I haven't tested these on playa, but they seem like a good idea. I bought one for other purposes from a farm wrecking yard a few years back for about $30.

Yep, made myself a dust snorkel a few weeks ago, thanks! Air intake was down there underneath, so ran some ducting hose stuff from the intake and up behind the passenger seat. Unsure if it's going to be too loud to be sucking air back there in the main cab, if so I'll just route it out the side or up top (it's the stretchy kind of hose, and I left lots of extra accordioned down). Might stretch a bit of pantyhose over the end of that, even, so it's not just open to the air. Unsure. Don't want to decrease air intake volume....

Thanks, yeah. I got familiar with it as I popped it open to install the snorkel. Took it apart, looked at it, put it back together. I have extra air filter parts, an extra fuse, a spare tyre... good to go, I think! Thanks for the advice!

Check out the goretex shopvac type filters.

I suspect they would work well with playa dust.
