And the Just Wear Beige campaign is a dogsend for those of us who are color-blind. (I'd say "colour-blind", but Simon would think I'm Canadian, when I really come from a family of anglo-philes.)

Another advantage is that you can wash all your clothes in one load and no longer have to use hot water. Beige is Enviro!

I just bought a LARGE bundle of beige gauze. ($5 at the local second hand). 36" X 100 yards. I couldn't resist and now I'm stumped. I could wrap up the Union Army, put up a trash fence for feathers or make a hell of a Halloween Haunted House. For Burning man? I dunno.

I am looking forward to seeing AntiM in person. In photos, she's breathtaking. The smooth skin is a big part of that. But mostly, I think, it's her expressions: She has this serenity about her, but there's a fiery pride in her eyes.

(To me, this pic is mostly about the serenity, as her eyes aren't facing the camera. Of course, the composition of the photo, with all of the white, really emphasizes that. But it's there in all the pics).

And I'm already very beige, so it would like . . . the worst, most perverse form of environmentally disastrous desert camouflage, this feathery glittery indefinite thing, this sparkling Cthulu MENACE shimmering across the dust like a mirage, haunting the peripherals but never in full view, hard to see, like the monster in Predator, only Sparklep0wnied-up . . . the only thing one's vision could grab hold of would be the glittering, manic eyes in the center (and I assure you, they would be glittering like a wolf's, because I would have to have the contents of Hunter S. Thompson's Great Red Shark's drug suitcase in my stomach to wear feathers out there).

I wear a lot of kaki as it is ... or maybe beige.

I have a canvas-colour Tilley hat I may wear, but I also have a nifty Outdoor Research hat that's sort of light beige, maybe off-white.

I'm not wearing practical desert combat boots this year in favor of less-breathable black Doc Martens. I have a 100-weight black fleece vest that will be a dusty shade of off-white the moment I put it on that first chilly night.

Beige glitter is an excellent idea, as are beige feathers. Maybe a beige boa -- no, no boas or feathers or glitter. I can imagine the horror of trying to find the beige, dusty moop as those horrible things disintegrate and float about littering the playa.

The glue bath reminds me of a movie I saw with the Japanese girl and a bunch of guys standing around her ...
