One of President Barack Obama's former professors appears to have turned against him, according to a recent YouTube video.
"President Obama must be defeated in the coming election," Roberto Unger, a longtime professor at Harvard Law School who taught Obama, said in a video posted on May 22. "He has failed to advance the progressive cause in the United States."
Unger said that Obama must lose the election in order for "the voice of democratic prophecy to speak once again in American life."
He acknowledged that if a Republican wins the presidency, "there will be a cost ... in judicial and administrative appointments." But he said that "the risk of military adventurism" would be no worse under a Republican than under Obama, and that "the Democratic Party proposes no new direction."

Not only does it hold up, but much of it has come true, and fox is one example.
Some amazing material there.

Well, I don't know. I think this "progressive" crap is getting near the end of its run. People are getting tired of economic suicide in the name of some ideological fantasy. The notion of hating anyone else who has accomplished more and demanding stuff be taken from them in the name of some twisted form of "justice" is starting to wear thin. People are starting to want to be left alone and we have a government that increasingly treats its own citizens as adversaries or even prey.
California is going to be in for a rude shock when the rest of the country refuses to bail it out with federal money. The unbelievable fiscal idiocy coming out of Sacramento is just dumbfounding. Nobody is responsible for you but you. You can't hang your neighbor on the hook to support you just because they have manged to earn more than you have. That is not only stealing, it is counter-productive. Once you harvest that cash, there won't be any more. It will be gone.
California is billions in the hole and it still talks about pissing away more on a high-speed rail boondoggle that could surely wait a few years. The answer is always "take more money from people" and then they learn that when they raise taxes, revenues fall as people and employers simply leave the state.
Socialism only works if you have a wall around it with the guns pointing inward to keep the people from leaving.
"Progressives" are basically intellectually lazy and looking for easy solutions to their utopian dream by stealing from people in the name of "justice". The people of this country and around the world are increasingly getting sick of it.

But this story reached around and touched the cockles of my heart.
No, seriously: Obnoxious jokes aside, this is something I really feel passionate about. I didn't know this protest was coming, but I kind of wish I were there now. The Canadian government, whatever you might think of their ideology and their other policies, really does seem to have it in for evidence-based decision making. A lot of their deepest cuts have been to research programs -- Statistics Canada, Fisheries and Oceans, Ministry of the Environment, and others have all been slashed. Meanwhile, academic granting programs such as SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) and NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council) have seen their mandates "updated" to prioritize funding of research that is business-related.
So a coalition of activists led by scientists (the latter being not exactly the "usual suspects" when it comes to organizing protests) are on Parliament Hill demonstrating with a "funeral for Evidence."
I will be watching this story closely. As much as I bitch about academia, I think curiosity-based research is extremely important, and evidence-based decision-making is even more so. I'm horrified by what our government has been doing in these areas.

Seems that they were right. This is why Occupation Wallstreet is so important. For now we see the true enemy. The 1%. Big business. Corporations. The suits. Emphasis in schools has indeed shifted to business.
