Re-reading Agatha Christie's Murder with Mirrors, which I probably haven't touched since I was a teenager. Agatha Christie is excellent comfort reading. If you wait long enough, there's a chance you'll forget whodunit.

Although . . . not with all of them.

I've read too many books since last check in but they've all been by John Ringo. Two more books and I'll have (re)read all that he's published. First read them about a year ago...

Right now I'm reading Mycophilia by Eugenia Bone, all about fungi (and mushrooms). Really fascinating, and it's written very casually while giving lots of good solid information.

Also reading a new (to me) book on stone-setting for more jewelry inspiration, and have about another 9 books in the pile waiting to be read (history, geography, chemistry, italian food, more history...)



God I love books. We really need to get the four bookshelves still in boxes assembled so we can get some off the floor & out of boxes...

Do you read eBooks? If so I have many free (legally) that I can share.

Feedbooks.com has many, many wonderful and free eBooks to offer, lots of which are by new and promising authors.

Smashwords.com has lotsa freebies as well, many are not free but I believe most of the price goes to the authors.

Baen books (a major fiction / fantasy / sci-fi publisher) has an immense free library that offers an incredible variety of known authors who have released major titles to the citizens of the interwebs.

Corey Doctorow believes in freedom of literature and offers ALL of his works for free at Craphound.com.

Before I had a Kindle I never thought I'd be able to do without tangible physical paper books. I haven't bought a paper book (except for locksmithing, gunsmithing, and electronics reference tomes) since...

What hurts is most of them were technical, many over a hundred apiece.
Most of the info is never online, unfortunately.
Every time I do anything now, I'm missing a tool or book I already owned.
Knowledge is power sometimes.

I appreciate it though.
I may have time to read for pleasure again eventually.

I can suggest downloading the amazon kindle for PC and then just searching their free books for download. I also do not have a kindle or nook or etc...but this has worked for me to use my PC.

YES!
Though I have Kindle for PC, I find it to be rather buggy and slow to respond to commands.
I use Calibre exclusively now. It is an eBook library manager, format conversion, and eReader program. I appreciate the comprehensive library function (have 5,000+ eBooks) and the format conversion is invaluable.

Just finished Alistair Reynolds' Terminal World. Reynolds puzzles me. I'm not always sure I know what's going on a few layers down. Like the angel's in this book. Most of them are a menace about which little is known. Then the viewpoint character is also an angel. In disguise. So, I end up a little confused. But it was good. I enjoy him, even if I do end up puzzled...
I don't know what's next...

There's one mistake I need to edit out of Ch. 36 still, but I might get to it before you do. Each block is ~30 min and typically around 10 chapters.

I posted this on an email list and invited people to forward it. Consequently, I met a total stranger at BM to whom I was reading Cat's Cradle. It was awesome.

You're doing a great thing for many people, if it gets out there.
I have two friends that can no longer read, and it was painful for years for me.
Somewhat better now.
