I tried thinking of something cool or reflective of me or a word i could associate with translated into another language that seemed neat but it the end I just spelled my name backwards.

Not really me anymore, I sold the car a few years and it is tearing up the racing circuit somewhere around Chicago.

I lived on the oceans for almost 16 years as a boat captain, driving for Mobil Oil, running fishing charters, delivering boats, hauling the "cargo of the day", general pirate shit.

Maybe you are "The legend of mgb327" (with a rather indirect movie reference).

I have gone by enire in other forums -- short for enirehtac, which is my name backwards (and unpronounceable).

Let's see...

One night at the burn, I was chatting with this person. I spent good five minutes trying to teach him my name.
Finally he said "Screw this, I will ask you few questions". He asked me about the music I like and books I read.
And somehow we ended up talking about HHGG and about how I was mostly harmless (yes, nerds find each other)
Suddendly in the middle of the conversation, he had a realization and screamed "You are Whoosh!!" "You are the mighty Whoosh!".
Eventually the name spread among my camp.

What I love about this story is the fact that it makes absolutely NO sense. The conversation, the name, nothing...
The whole incident was hazy and I probably looked like a ball of disco lights to that guy.
But he was convinced that I was whoosh Being a transient being that I am helps with the name.

Edit: because, on a serious note...
I have always been this over-thinking/over-analyzing fool. Hence, I take great pleasure in finding things that makes no sense to me.
It's a way I find relief from my usual self.

PS: Recently, this cute 6 yr old girl started calling me "bubbles" (and now its a family joke). I was shocked initially.
On the upside, if I ever consider change of profession anytime, I atleast have a name.

We met an ex fisherman now dive boat skipper who told us that the smell of a turtle's burp when being removed from netting was the worst odour in the world.

Emma or Bumble on Eplaya promptly told me I was a turtleburp and the name stuck, at least as an interweb moniker.

I had a running gag with a friend of mine - the one that introduced me to Burning Man. I'd call his house (before everyone used cell phones) and sometimes his wife would answer instead; I'd say "Goddammit!" and she'd say "What the hell!". It became our standard script. She'd yell across the house "Phil! It's 'Goddammit' on the phone!"

Then I built a boat mutant vehicle. When you're driving a boat, everyone calls you "Captain". So it came to be... Captain Goddammit, and it stuck.

Mine's sorta self serving, but it's what my closest burner friends call me because I tend to try to fix anything/everything and often with random, improvised, objects. My name is Glen. Glen + MacGuyver = MacGlenver. I suspect they'll always call me MacGlenver. I think some day a different, more elegant name will come along, but I think my close friends will always know me by MacGlenver.

I almost went with Dreamcrusher, which is the alter ego/secondary playa name that my friends often see come out when they are trying to plan unrealistic (or simply ambitious) things. I try to keep Dreamcrusher on a leash, or at least let people know when he's coming out.

Turtleburb nicknamed me Bumble, originally due to the fact I can be a force of destruction (knocking things over etc)
I took to it.

It was after about 6 months after the naming, I found out that turtleburp had a dog growing up called Bumble & that Bumble use to knock things over too with her tail.

Is ok, I saw a picture of the Bumble, she was very cute & I like dogs

So there you go "Bumble is my name!"

Corn Boy or something. It really doesn't matter to me as long as it has the word Corn in there somewhere.

I have 2 pet rabbits that I adore. Since I can't bring them with me to the playa, I figured putting them in my screen name would be a nice reminder. plus it sounds kind of hot, like a snow bunny

unfortunately, mine is less than climactic. the name i wanted (and use often) was taken (luv2luv2luvu - if you don't know the song, well, that sucks). ooooohhhoooohhhhh!

my initials are AA, a friend of mine in college gave me the nickname (coincedentally, his initials were MM. ah the little shit people bond over).

I used to have a Rottweiler named Peyote. He was the only constant in my life for the 9 years that I had him.

When he was 4, I went through some really horrible times. Bad depression, contemplated suicide, etc. I was all set to end it. I booked off work, so no one would miss me for a while. Told work and my mother that I was going to the states for a concert and would be gone for a few days. I was setting things up, so the dog would have enough food and water until I was found, when I suddenly realized that if something happened to me, there was no one to take are of him. It was kind of a wake up call for me. I finally got counseling for my depression, and other issues I was experiencing at the time. I became very focused on Caring for Peyote... He may have just been a dog, but he needed me.

Unfortunately, dogs have such short life spans compared to humans. When Peyote was 9, I lost him to cancer. That was in 2004, thus Peyote2004. I either go by that or Poe2004 (Poe was my nickname for him).

As a kid, my favorite uncle would call me Fergle Jay Farkel after the old Laugh-In charachter. Then shortened to Jay. Then onto Jaybobboy.

Its funny how things like these evolve over the years!

10 years ago, a buddy and I were going to start a private investigation company. His father was a retired P.I., so we decided to start the business again.

I was probably a bit more enthusiastic than he was, and was always calling him with thoughts and ideas, particularly at odd hours. So one night I called him with some idea, and before I could finish, he said "Easy there, Magnum!" (as in Magnum P.I.)

The name stuck.
