Lowz is right, distinctive national drinks are very well-received. If you decide to go this route, check with your airline/Customs to know the amount you may bring. If it's not a whole lot, you can share it a little at a time when you have a great interaction with somebody. You don't have to gift everyone or all at once.

I'm from Turku, or that's where i've studied. Yup, salmiakki a.k.a. salty licorice is a bit of a opinion divider, specially when in comes to its drinkable form. Btw, salty licorice is a bit of an off-shoot as a term.
Salmiakki consists of ammonium chloride, sugar and medicinal black carbon (used as a colorant).

Turun sinappi, no problemo. I'll take a tube (yes...) with me. The sausage may get spoiled on the way. Tell you what, you bring the meat and i'll bring the condiments. Cool?

I suggest you go to the Customs and Borders website and see what the limit is. I don't know what happens to foreign nationals caught bringing in extra liquor. It could be a vacation ruiner...

The Herrings brought some in 2009. I think I was the only person who liked it, but I liked it.

it's made from reindeer colostrum. I think it's a special thing at certain times of the year, but not sure. I was there in October.

No joke! I managed to set myself and a friend on fire with Stroh in a terrible boozing accident. My friend ended up with a single burn blister that wrapped around his arm starting at the elbow and ending at his hand. So, I suggest you make a trip to Austria (or Wisconsin) pick up a full case of Stroh, and then continue your travels to the playa.
