Why do fire performers get free tickets but DJs don't?

Friend is part of "fire conclave" and gets free ticket to burning man just because she performs in the fire ring around the man.

Besides, they haven't chosen the conclaves yet, so they can't be assigning individual tickets this early. The video applications aren't due yet.

Too many DJs maybe? I've never done dubstep myself, but I think I'll put some beats together and see how it goes. But I believe I'll be one of the rare DJs that makes his own music. It's a shame that all those hours learning and practicing scales on the guitar probably will not apply to my new venture.

cpart, you've read this page about Fire Conclave, right? How it's an official part of the event, how people have to apply to be in it, how they have to work with a team to choreograph and present work within specific guidelines and safety standards? How it involves not only fire dancing but deadlines, paperwork, protocols, and sobriety?

Oh, and you've also read about how you don't have to spin fire. You can be a drummer, a fire marshall, a radio operator, or a team leader. And I'm pretty sure you don't need to be a "she". But you know all that, because you read that whole page, right?

But while we're on the subject, allow me to take this moment to express my annoyance that DPW get tickets. I mean, I'm going to set up my tent, pick up moop, probably help some other people set up their stuff, and volunteer with the pottie project. Why don't I get a ticket?

The only DJ's that get free tickets are Bassnectar and Daft punk... and they will be playing privates sets at the at my camp on Friday and Saterday night. I'm selling tickets for this event too.. let me know if your interested. Drinks are 10$ a pop... and sure you can take a crap in my trailer bathroom whenever you want... here's the key.

Sorry... I have a sour sense of humour this early in the morning. DJ's aren't scheduled to play at BM, unless they do so on there own time and dollar. Giving them tickets would damage the integrity of the event... almost like getting sponsered by pepsi.

If our shin gets a free ticket, she more than deserves it for the cat herding, and if she has a few to designate to the poorest or most fabulous performers, I'm good with that. She knows who works hardest in the conclave, who shows up for practices, and who busts their ass on costuming and choreography. I'm on fuels, and I already have a ticket, so I don't even get the performer rate.

But the entire conclave of 50? All the conclaves getting free tickets? Nope, not happening.

I actually enjoy a good dj and love the music at BM.
I have camped at 3 and 915 and the sound was just fine for me while sleeping (what little I do).

But then again, I enjoy a good fire dancer, as well.

So don't listen to anything I say.
