To me it means each person is ultimately responsible for themselves. I do not however interpret that to mean that I should be rude to anyone that asks a question. To each his own however. Thanks for asking:-)

The general rule of thumb for the working forums such as preparation, tickets, even intros, is to wait for one or two serious answers before anyone is allowed to snark. Sometimes this was stretched to no snark until page two, but some questions can be answered simply. Open Discussion is usually fair game.

I blame summer arriving and cooking our little brains for the premature snarking.

As I mentioned in another thread, personally I don't necessarily care about the snark here even when directed to me. I am an old broad and there is most likely nothing anyone here can say with their fingers that will actually affect me one way or another if meant in anger or intentional bad will. I understand however why others do.

To that end I have a question for anyone that objects to a thread, one single thread, that is snark free. Why? No self control? An unwritten rule that everyone must be tested? Just because you want to? That is how we do it here? Seriously it would seem easy to ignore if "helpful" is indeed in some way painful to you.

i think thats the part where youll have to realize this is not just 'THE INTERNET' (its easy to blame all of the stuff happening here on 'anonymous' internet behavior.. i dont think thats so true). . this is a community about burning man stuff on the internet....burning man is a place where if someone sets up a "NO MEGAPHONE" camp there will be 10 fuckheads with megaphones there 5 minutes after the sign goes up

its part of this whole 'RADICAL SELF EXPRESSION' thing i think..

its not about people without self control... its not about testing people..i think its more about the "FUCK YER DAY!!" mindset.. the ..radical self expression mindset.. the 'radical inclusion' mindset..

Actually AntiM my husband has no issues with my "tits" and neither do I for that matter. I nursed both my daughters until they were 2 and it is evident in my body but I have no issues with my self image. My bazoobas are just fine, I just don't want anyone to recognize me by them on playa:-) Also the ridiculous request was not intended in any way to honor me so it would be foolish in my mind to honor the request with anything but a cartoon.

and dont forget those 10 principles werent there from the beginning... they reflected stuff that was largely already happening when they were made


so yeah RADICAL SELF EXPRESSION... hearkens to the stuff people were doing...... maybe in some ways its there to remind you that some stuff goes beyond 'free speech' type stuff... you certainly give up any right to NOT be offended once you ride up to the gate at burning man.. and largely also... once youre in the larger burning man community ..online and off of it.. (again.. i dont think all of the stuff you see here on eplaya can be blamed on anonymous internet behavior)

big chunks of the interesting stuff that have gone down in this whole burning man thing have been done by fuckhead prankster types who do stuff as they see fit...... in doing so theyve created environments and experiences that have made other people feel free to do as they see fit.

this isnt the rainbow gathering.. .....harshing someones buzz might actually do some good!

I am sorry but have you seen any of the preparation threads? Any of the box truck rental, hotel deal, the costume help threads, all the camp gear, cool your camp threads? Have you seen the work in progress thread? Have you seen any or all the amazing stuff people make and post on here?

I am surprised you are hung up on few snarky threads and demeaning the awesomeness of this place (and I am not even going into the suicide and fuck threads).
It's not too big of a deal because those threads exist by majority. It's your choice what you want to see... it really is...

I have read nearly every current thread. Yes I have read all the helpful preparation threads. While I am a burgin, I will be a very prepared one. Most people here are very very helpful. I have not tried to demean the awesomeness of this message board at all. I am here after all. As you said it would be easy for you to ignore. Maybe you should? Especially if you interpreted my posts as me trying to disparage the board. Snark is not for everyone. Neither is nice apparently:-)
