Pajama is technically derived from Persian word for loose fitting trousers (commonly used in Urdu and Hindi). I would suspect the British borrowed it from us and never thanked us for itKurta is the tunic. The wide leg pajamas are very common in Pakistan and in India. They are incredibly comfortable.
Cat, you can try and shop at some Indian clothing website. They might carry some.
