High Power Alternator for MV

I ran across a large one on craigslist here.
Seems a good price.
A QS with a separate rectifier box for cooling and increasing fitment options.
Rated
190 amps at 625 rpm
490 at 2000 rpm

They claim it fits most cars due to the remote rectifier.

To follow up, I finally went to see this guy because he had all sorts of interesting stuff.
That was apparently a hell of a deal because some guy drove from 250 miles away to get it.
You should see the "mild" system he has changed over to.
A fairly serious all digital input and control amp setup.

His loud car was running three of these alternators and a large bank of serious deep cycle batteries.
No junk.
Output was 17,000 watts rms.
He had shattered windows with it.
Vibration had destroyed most of the interior.
He said his favorite thing was to have the usual crappy losermobile pull up and try to annoy him.
Then he would just give it a little bit of a nudge.

Another option is a powerline alternator. They are used on semi trucks and are rated for 190 amps. The alternators are about twice the size of a gm alternator and will require making custom monting brackets. Wiring is easy just a power and ground wire.

I use a 200A GM compatible 3 wire marine alternator on my boat to power a 4000w RMS/6 amplifier sound system.. and it never falls below 13.5v even when the bass is knocking your teeth out. I picked it up from a place called PowerMax USA on ebay for $170. Awesome unit.

For other electrical units such as starters and off the shelf alternators, I've been using a place called DB Electrical for years. Yeah.. it's aftermarket Chinese built stuff, but it works and lasts pretty damn well and at a fraction of the price of OEM or others with a solid warranty. I recommend them highly. Their catalog is amazingly extensive.
