Is anyone going via St Pauls airport on 23/8/2012??? What are the rules to hitching in the US?

Things like that tend to be different in each state. There are definitly some jurisdictions where it's illegal.

There's zimride and craigslist for rides too.

Usually you can't hitch on freeways, though it's done.
Be careful or stay at the entrances.

Reno is closer to the playa.

Thanks for the tip. As for flights I am trying to see if it is a viable option to fly to Minneapolis as I have found this to be the best deal for the date I am able to fly to the US...so far, I have found flights to Reno to be around 1-200 bucks more which I cant afford to waste. I am waiting to see if the prices drop before I commit...fingers crossed.

Be careful. Flights go up at some point again. I think there's a drop at around 3 months, and then tickets go up, because that way they can get a lot from people with fewer options.
Note, I don't fly enough to really know these things. Other people on the board will.

Yes, I have taken this into consideration...keeping a close eye on the prices daily.
