Thread-bumping

Postby trilobyte » Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:36 am

Unfortunately there's been some abusive behavior, so we've got to set some ground rules.

Do not bump a thread in the Tickets Wanted board unless you are the original poster.
Do not bump a thread more than once a week.

The line here though is what is bumping and what is casually posting..

If you don't have something to add to the conversation and the post is made purely to push the thread back to the top of the list, that's thread bumping.

What happens if a thread is bumped more than once a week or by someone other than the op?

I guess what I'm getting at is that casual conversation could be thinly veiled thread bumping. But.. alas.. hopefully the message here gets through.

Bump posts are removed, not the entire thread.

You might also consider locking the offending thread, either permanently or temporarily, as deleting the message may not actually force the message back to its original position and the deleted post will still have served its purpose.

Once you delete a post, the thread reverts back to where it was based on the time the last remaining post went up. We see it with spam all the time - if that didn't all you would see under the first page of "New Posts" would be the regional board.

As a reminder, the tickets wanted/offered boards are intended to be 'working' boards. If anyone still has questions about thread-bumping, please send me a PM.
