The other day, in the TPBM thread, knowmad and I had the following exchange:

TPBM thinks it would be cool if there was a planet that was water all the way through... just a big ol' drop of water with ice or whatever it would be at the core, liquid at the surface, and a vapour atmosphere.

I have enjoyed imagining such a planet for years, and wondered whether it would be possible. What would be in the middle? Water under extreme heat and pressure, so... hot ice? Viscous steam? I had poked around on the Interwebs a bit and never found anything. I considered the possibility that such a planet maybe couldn't exist, because the super-heated/pressurized water at the centre might just explode, or something.

Anyways, after the above exchange, I decided to Google it again, just in case things had changed. And lo, what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a press release from Nasa this year!

Some years ago, I had a huge row with a friend about the right thing to do after being bitten by a zombie -- get someone to shoot you in the head, or stay alive knowing that you'll succumb to the virus and end up eating your loved ones' brains. I opted for the latter; after all, once the zombie apocalypse has begun, everyone's fucked anyways. I might as well get to live a little longer, find out what zombiedom is like, taste some brains... Well, my friend was horrified. Shouting ensued, even (this conversation might have been on the far side of a lot of drinking). He concluded that I was a selfish bitch, whereas he probably should have concluded that I was trolling him and taking his question very srsly.

ok zombie sitiuation. This is a subject close to my heart.

First i have had a Zombie plan in place since i was 16 and spend a lot of time considering good bases, and what would make a good weopon. First if i got bitten i would want to wait till i tirned before my friends took me out (after all I might be the person who was immune and could be the cure).

If the zompokolypse did happen I really want it to occur while I amover in the states as there is a ready supply of firearms (private homes are a good source). should it happen In england I have concluded a large DIY store is the best place to hide up.
