I can't tell you where it was filmed. It was definitely aware of the burn and included burn-influenced imagery and ideas. Those were the most useless sparkleponies, however. I suspect it's a very LA take on the whole thing.

To embed: go to youtube (or vimeo)- copy the URL in the browser window (not the "share" button unless you want extra steps. In your eplaya posting window you'll see a youtube button- click it, paste the URL between the tags and- this is the critical part- delete the ampersand & everything after it (I've highlighted that part in blue in your quote above)

I asked uncle Google, and according to an advertising industry blog it was filmed at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I don't see it as a ripoff of anything from the playa, things like steampunk and Lady Gaga and house music and driving fast are already popular well outside the event. I rather liked it - visually it's stunning, and while I don't care for that particular flavor I say kudos to the company for making something other than a generic advert (ie hot people in default nightclubs ordering brand x, cocktail y).
